My tolerance level has taken a hit
I don't watch the news, or read any major print media, beyond scanning for videos and quotes of the actual person or persons involved. It's nearly impossible to simply get raw data upon which to form ones own opinions, without any spin in any direction or any editorializing by a glamor model or former who gives a fuck turned anchor. And it's not impossible in a conspiratorial sense, mind you, but in a signal to noise ratio and vast number of sources sense and a some bad actors sense.

There no longer exists a trusted funnel, beyond this forum and the like. Network and Cable news sold their souls, even Rush and Beck and the rest are Infotainment too. Print is all but dead. Instead, communities like this have to aggregate their collective bullshit filters just to filter enough of the bullshit for everyone to see some of the raw data. It's a pickle, the saying goes. Bullshit is everywhere, in excess.

Never was a trusted funnel, really, just a simpler time with fewer sources of bullshit.

And less awareness that we were being BSed.

I am still a news junkie. I mostly "watch" Fox Business and CNBC, by taping them both and then fast forwarding through the commercials and any stupid segments.

The machine tapes Bret Baier on Fox every day, but President Trump usually is speaking at that time slot, oh well.

I tape the local news just to see what they think the weather will do, but they are usually wrong. They hire based on computer graphics knowledge, not weather forecasting.

I rely on AM radio streamed through my phone. WMAL in DC has been my favorite for forty years, in 1986 I worked right across the street from them. Chris Plante in the 9AM to Noon slot is great, you can also get a free podcast.

I turn on ABC news at 7AM for about 18 minutes to watch George Stephanopolis (the Lying Leprechaun) provide comfort and support to the Dems by totally disregarding facts. I know that one day little Georgie's head is going to turn completely around, like Linda Blair in the Exorcist. I heard that the black lesbian woman makes more money than the Leprechaun, and that's sweet, too.

I also like One America News. Really.

I've cut back on my news watching to about fifteen minutes, once a day.
I can't take the constant Covid doom and gloom, especially when so much of it is BS - even on Fox.

If you are an Amazon Prime member, there are a lot of CW documentaries included.
There are also quite a few ebooks free or 99 cents! I especially enjoy the ones that are personal accounts of everyday life of common soldiers from both sides.

Best regards,

Tom
