DIY Wireless backup camera
I would like to install a backup camera to an older vehicle. I'm looking for a wireless solution that would require minimal or no wiring at all. I see a few solutions from $99-$299. Anyone got any recommendations to help me wade through the muck? TIA

Just bite the bullet and get a hardwired one installed. I've never heard a single good thing about wireless backup cameras.

I paid $600 to have this installed by a local car audio shop in my 2012 Mazda and it works great. Could have gotten the smaller monitor for around $450 installed but opted for the widescreen monitor built into the mirror:

Maybe there's something good out there, but I've never heard of it. I have had lots of people come to me to get something good installed after being disappointed with a DIY wireless.

If you want to do it yourself, a wired solution is not that difficult, especially on an older vehicle. Assuming it's a vehicle you drive, you may want to upgrade the radio to a touchscreen and gain newer features at the same time, such as BT and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Thanks fellas. The value of the car is probably less than $600, lol. It is in good mechanical condition and going to give it to my niece who just got her dl. I just like the convenience of having a backup camera, and I'm sure it will help a beginner driver.

I've been debating similar.
2012 Malibu, so would likely need a new double din head unit, then the associated bits to integrate with the car's hardware (steering wheel controls & blinker audio).

I put one of these on my fathers 99 RX300, it had no provision for adding a camera due to it's age and it wasn't worth dropping the funds for a car that old.

$99 completely wireless and solar charged.

Worked really well, you just need to mount the monitor which isn't difficult, RAM Mounts should have an option.

If you have a truck, they have wired cameras that are made in to a replacement tailgate handle. It are around sixty bucks.

I have a 2004 truck and wired it up in about two hours.

The screen and AV inputs came out of a minivan in the junkyard for another fifty bucks.

The solar charging version sounds interesting.

Do they still make these that just work with an app on an iPhone?
