Could be the design of the Honda's console area has nowhere to anchor the vault down rather than popularity.

So how, exactly, is the console vault secured to the car?

In my 2016 4Runner there were two bolts in the bottom of the center console. Back them out (you need an extension for the socket) and replace. Had to sacrifice the Kleenex holder that was under the arm rest. The other contents got prioritize and went to either the glove box or the door compartment.
