Im very happy or was happy with Windows 10 but accidentally downloaded Windows 11 a couple of days ago. The guy I take my computer to when I need work done said there's no issues with 11 and I should keep it instead of deleting it and going back to 10. I respect his opinion but never hurt to seek the opinion of others and Ive found the members of Sigforum to be very knowledgeable. So should I hold on to 11 or go back to 10. Any known issues to be concerned with by running 11? Thanks

I put on Win11 primarily because TurboTax won't work without it. After a few minor tweaks, I'm fine with it.

I was happy my Quicken14 and old Microsoft Office13 continued to work w/o a hitch.

I've gone to Win 11 on our two desktops, one MS Notebook, and a Dell laptop. It's fine.

But, I don't do any real hinky stuff, like 3D gaming or AI Photoshopping, etc. Just word processing and 'net surfing.

Give it a few days and see if you like Windows 11. If you do then there's no reason not to just keep it. If not, then have your computer guy reinstall Win 10 for you.

Had to buy a new laptop and Win 11 was only option. Took a couple hours of use to get comfortable and now, after a few months, I don't even remember what the difference between 11 and 10 is.

That's me. It'll be fine. A few quirks to get used to like, the "Start" button is in the bottom middle of the screen w/11. But you can google "moving 'start' button to the left" and get it back to normal.

It works fine. Like other versions, you can tweak it to look like previous edition if you'd rather.

Does anyone have a disk or a link for Windows 11? I only use Windows with a virtual machine. for Quickbooks but I need to upgrade from Windows 7

Stay on 11.

If your machine is ~ 7 - 8 years old or more it's unlikely your hardware will support 11.

For being able to pay bills online, and other financial type things are where updating to Windows 11 may be required most of all. The developers will likely, if not already, stop doing updates to their web browsers if a machine is still running Windows 10. Plus as mentioned prior, apps like Quickbooks are requiring Windows 11 to be able to run the current versions.

I hate Win 11 for many reasons but I deal with it because Win 10 support is going to be discontinued.
Stay with Win 11, in time it will be the new normal. Until Win 12 is released.

I finally switched everything over to win11.
moved the start button to the left and turned copilot off. i really don't notice the difference anymore.

work had to switch to win11 for security reasons.

I never would have upgraded if it wasn’t for the fact that TurboTax now requires Windows 11. I did a full computer upgrade with my motherboard, CPU, graphics card, memory, went to a solid state drive, etc and also a clean install of Windows 11 as I had way too many programs slowing my machine down.

You need to stay on 11. You really don't want to experience a significant issue resulting from your PC being compromised. The only way to keep your PC patched and secure(ish) is to keep the OS at a supported version.

There are tools to get rid of stupid stuff that follows with win11 (like the hardware requirements check that let's you install win11 on older computers). Here is the autounattended installation tool:

I haven't tried it my self yet but I've watched a few tutorials on youtube and it sounds good.
I'll most likely use it if/when I'm forced to switch to win11.
If you choose to use it, watch the tutorials and remember to choose the right setup file depending on your BIOS.

Is there anything that will kill all the adds buried in the system?

I like 11, and have found it to be stable, easy to use, and pretty intuitive.

I don't remember all the settings I turned off but I found them by searching for videos on YouTube. Try searching for "How to Disable Ads in Windows 11".
