Turns out I am remembered:

Yes. The ClearsighT shooter’s loupe/optical aid is explicitly on record in the target-shooting world.[targettalk +1]
What ClearsighT is
• ClearsighT is a small loupe with a +0.50, +0.75, or +1.0 diopter lens that clips to the shooter’s glasses to shift focus to the front sight, intentionally blurring the target while sharpening the front sight.[bullseyeforum +1]
• It was created in the 1980s by Tillman Eddy (“Mr. ClearsighT”), and forum posts note that “nearly ten thousand iron sight shooters worldwide have used it.”[targettalk +1]
Use and rule status
• Shooters on bullseye and target-shooting forums report that ClearsighT has been permitted for NRA conventional pistol, grouping it with other allowed “accommodations” like red dots and similar aids, while noting it is not permitted in some international pistol disciplines.[targettalk]
• Recent discussions (2023) show Eddy considering restarting production due to renewed interest from iron-sight and Distinguished Revolver shooters, which confirms it remains a known, documented option in the community.[bullseyeforum]
If you meant “on record” specifically in current NRA rulebooks by name, it does not appear to be called out as a brand there, but it is treated as a compliant optical aid under the general sight/vision provisions in NRA conventional pistol.[competitions.nra +1]

I designed this in late 1970’s; obsoleted by the rule change allowing glass and electronic aiming devices around 1980-81. A little cash cow for a while.

Question:
Do you remember ClearsighT?

Choices:
No…
Yes…
Yes, and I still use it…

I still have two. Have used them attached to my distance Rx. They do great to see the front sight. Only one time did a flying brass knock the loupe off.

I never used one, but I do recall a few of the guys I used to shoot with using them.

Another similar item that uses a lens as the ClearsighT did is available here:
https://shootingsight.com/?product=clip-on-flip-lens

I'm going to order one of these for range use, been messing with low diopter readers over my prescription glasses to determine which power to order.

Who you calling an old fart? I only shot my first match in 1970. Maybe winter 1969. Can't remember that far back Smile
