Hopefully, all Florida cities did good maintenance on their storm drain systems during the past month.

It's about time, not because I want to open carry but because this protects me (and you, my fellow Florida carriers) against printing or if we overreach to grab something and our belt-line shows too much. We live in a hot climate after all, concealment is nearly an art form in shorts and a tee.
What I haven't seen any credible explanation on how this affects long guns in public; again, out of curiosity for understanding, zero personal interest on putting it to use.

EDIT: Want to add that I lived in Washington state (before it went full-mental), where open carry was legal and few people did so; I expect very little will change in Florida.

^^^^ This is where I am. Happy we have it, don't intend to use it much, glad it clears up any inadvertent exposure. Now I can also carry when hiking, without pretending I am hunting, camping or fishing.

Florida already had legal language in laws to prevent prosecution for printing or inadvertent display. Basically if a garment covers the gun it’s concealed by law.

I’ll continue to carry concealed as normal but it’s good to have choices.

I do expect some foolishness, it’s Florida.

We should make a “punch buggy” game each time you see a Tauri sticking out of an Uncle Mikes holster.

I see OC a bit more way down S TX, but rarely in the Houston area.

The almost ten years years since OC became legal, I’ve seen exactly two cases of it.

I prefer concealed carry for the element of surprise. I can only imagine some knucklehead slinging an ar-15 over their shoulder while shopping, if they even get in the door.

I've done OC twice down there & no one bats an eye at it.
Was in an auto parts store & 2 BP agents came in, didnt even seem to acknowledge.

Yup, open carry became legal in Texas in 2016 and I have probably ever seen no more than five instances of it in public. Every time each new law passed in Texas; first with licensed concealed carry, then open carry, and the constitutional carry, all the anti-gunners said it would be like the Wild West and there would be be blood bath shootings in the streets. Nope. Never happened. Life moved on without really even knowing the laws passed, except law abiding citizens are armed.

I was just in Laredo for an FBI class and dress code was a button down polo with 5.11 pants. Every one of us was armed and with badges, but it was funny that only a very few dressed with their gun and badge showing. The rest of us just looked normal. The class was held at the Laredo College so we ate in the cafeteria daily. The ones with their weapons exposed got so much attention from people asking who they were, where they worked, what their gun was, etc. All of them were young cops proud to show gun and badge. The rest of us just got our food and ate. Only thing that stood out about a few of us was we were old and in a college cafe eating….LOL.

I might do it once just to feel the freedom.

Tx open carry is kinda screwy imo.

I carry a 43x with a trigger guard holster tethered to a belt loop on my jeans at appendix carry position.

This method would be illegal if done as open carry here in Tx. The trigger guard holster isn’t considered as an approved holster style for open carry here.

I have no desire to open carry anyway so have always planed to keep paying for the right to CCarry.

What are the approved holster methods for Florida open carry?

The statute prohibiting open carry was declared unconstitutional by an appellate court. Basically, the law said no open carry and there’s another statute that listed exceptions like hunting for example. There are currently no statutes covering how, when, or where concerning open carry.

Partially true. 790.06(12)(a), Florida Statutes prohibits open carry of handguns in enumerated prohibited places.
