Most everyone knows about the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally but many may not know of all the other rallies held in the area annually.

The Camero rally just finished up (June 21-25). We currently have the Deadwood Three Wheeler rally (9-14 July) and next up is the Corvette Classic (12-15 July).

There are many more. Smile

I've been to Sturgis a few times on the bike, once again a few years ago with the Family in the off season. Beautiful country! That road through Spearfish Canyon is one great ride! Same with Custer National Park.

I know about the Corvette rally, didn't know about the others.

My cousin and her husband are here from Albany NY to attend the Deadwood 3 Wheeler Rally (https://www.d3wr.com/). They were last out here 8 years ago for the 75th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. With age they've gone from a Harley to a Can-Am. Big Grin

And yes the riding vistas are phenomenal here. She had been on Needles Highway before but this trip hit Vanocker Canyon and Spearfish Canyon Roads. She had a one word description of the later: "Magestic!" They have plans to see Devils Tower and Custer State Park.

What No Honda S2000 Rally? LOL

Corvette Rally sounds cool, if I still had one of my vettes, although it's a darn long way there, Sturgis is on my list.

I've seen past large S2000 "meets" on the west coast with one even sponsored by Honda. There was a S2000 Forum sponsored get together in Keystone SD in the shadow of Mt Rushmore a good number of years ago. But given the relative scarcity of the model (110k worldwide in it's ten year run with ~65k sold in the US) and now age (my 2003 now qualifies for vintage insurance) an annual Rally was sadly never in the cards. There are only two of us in the greater Rapid City area...mine basically stock with a few personal touches and the other owned by a much younger lad set up for drifting with wild customization ala Fast and Furious.

And my 2006 S2000 is lonely in the Tucson area. Since we moved here in mid 2022, I think I have seen only one or two others.

But I assume Sturgis is getting closer. I see lots of Harleys on trailers rolling down I-15.

I’ll be down there twice this year. A friend invited me to stay in his cabin at the FTS during the rally, I will ride the bike down but don’t intend to ride the area much. Several of us are riding down the last week of August to ride the roads when they are not so congested.

Wise, or to show up the week before and stay through the first weekend, enjoy the sights, roads, vendors and leave. Same as Daytona Bikeweek/Biketoberfest.

For those that don't know what FTS is, that's the Full Throttle Saloon and yes it has accommodations for RVs, as well as tent campgrounds, and cabin rentals.

And as far as activities with folks coming in from out of state, there's a large archery tournament up on the Terry Peak ski resort (Lead SD next to Deadwood SD) currently. Always something going on.

Sturgis is just under 400 miles from where I live, so a day ride to get there. We generally make it down there 2-3 times a year, mostly stay in Deadwood. I’ve never been to the rally itself, when this guy offered me one of the beds in his cabin I decided I needed to go and experience the rally at least once in my life. May never go back during the rally, or it may become a yearly thing.
