WSJ names the CC-1 coconspirator as Mark Geragos

(from "people familiar w the matter")

https://www.wsj.com/articles/a...4fdb845ff661bd7a1ce6

The co-conspirator in that matter is attorney Mark Geragos, two people familiar with the matter said. Mr. Geragos couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.

Nike and other apparel companies have in recent years drawn scrutiny for their sponsorship of amateur basketball leagues. Last year, a former Adidas AG executive was convicted at trial in Manhattan for steering bribe payments to the families of youth basketball players.

Nike said in its statement on Monday that it has been cooperating with the government investigation into NCAA basketball for over a year.

Dershowitz Says Lawyer's 'Big Mouth' May Have Led to Charges

quote:
"He's essentially accused of threatening to affect Nike's capital value unless some money was paid," Dershowitz said, adding that Avenatti tends to be "a guy with a big mouth, using words that reasonable lawyers would never use in a conversation."

"You can't threaten a company's bottom line unless they pay money, unless it's part of a negotiation," he said.

You need to get the title correct...CNN Legal Analyst Mark Geragos Wink Big Grin

They gave Avenatti millions in free exposure, night after night of his nonsense. Then they have Geragos as their 'legal analyst'. Both frauds. I mean, we all knew it and anyone with any kind of reasoning and logic knew it, but it is nice to see public vindication.

Two questions-

First, is this slithering worm in custody at this time?

Secondly, how do you feel today's events will affect Avenatti's bid for the White House?

The second best part of sdy's link above is in the comments section. No clarity on his current custody status, but a useful forecast. Wouldn't bond for a scumbag like this be huge in this case?

Don't fuck with big dogs, they fuck back.

Nike is the definition of "big dog".

As I recall, some Democrat hearts were all a-flutter, as he was flirting with a run for President...

How's that working out for y'all?

I know I should not take pleasure in someone else's pain.

However, it could not happen to a more deserving person.

Good luck Mike!

Ah, according to CNN, Trump is to blame for them giving a scumbag like Avenatti virtually unlimited airtime.

What, no video of a 3:00 a.m. raid, him in handcuffs and jammies getting put into the back seat of an Explorer to sit next to Officer Shepherd? (snapping fingers)

In other words, it's okay for attorneys to extort money, but they must be tactful in the way they demand the money and veiled in their threats. Avenatti's sin as a lawyer wasn't the shakedown, it was his loudmouth, boorish behavior that tarnishes the profession.

I said it months ago:

"I hope he sinks so low that he has to ask his porn "star" client for a job, and he ends up as a fluffer or a stunt-double in gay porn movies."

Start the mouth exercises and get the butter, Avenatti, "you're goin' down." Cool

How the hell does someone do this, and we let them walk around? I mean all the above story is whackadoo and looks like he's going down finally, but WTF?

You don’t have to file personal income tax returns if you don’t owe money. I’m not saying that’s the case with him, though, but that’s the law.

In Florida you are automatically suspended from practicing law if you are charged with a felony. I hope that’s the case in California too.
