Maybe 2 years ago there was a thread that discussed cleaning tile grout. Several people mentioned using a steam cleaner. One device, a McCulloch steam cleaner seemed to be well thought of.

I need to clean the grout in our kitchen, and was wondering if the McCulloch was still one of the best options. I was looking at this one on Amazon.

I bought a McCullough steamer, in part based on that thread. I works very poorly for cleaning grout, not much better than baking soda+peroxide and a brush. Work very well for cleaning a black powder rifle though. The grout I am concerned with is between the shower wall tile, not floor tile, so mold...

What I want to try is the power washer (if I can figure out a way to control the over spray indoors).

When I moved into my new-to-me home there was lots of mildew on the shower grout. I used full strength chlorine bleach to remedy the situation.

Thankfully we don’t have a mold problem. We just messed up and chose a light colored grout, and after several years you can really tell the traffic areas.

I’m trying to keep from getting down on my knees with a brush. I’m looking for an easy way out.

Are you sure its dirt?

Colored grout can turn dark after repeated washings or constant wet areas like bathroom floor.

I had to use a grout knife and regrout my bathroom because the light stone color I chose had lost all its coloring in front of the vanity where we stand dripping after showers.

I think it’s dirt. The floor gets mopped weekly but the areas next to the baseboard, and the less traveled areas still look good. I have used Totally Awesome and a toothbrush, and the areas I cleaned look good. I just don’t want to do the whole floor that way.
