Here are a couple videos you may enjoy. I love Youthman's content and he's a really great down to earth guy.

If it has to be a soundbar, Nakamichi.

I run an Onyx home theater amp through an older school Bose AM15 5.1 and I have been happy with it for years. But if I was starting over I would certainly look at Sonos. I have a couple of their speakers, System 5 and Move 2, and they are just awesome.

I'm 5.1.4 but will be trying out Sonos the next few days as my Arc Ultra was just delivered. I already have Era 300 surrounds and their sub. I'm sure it won't sound as good as my carefully dialed in separate system but we're moving later this year and we don't want the wires or hassle of setting it all up, selecting source on the receiver, etc. I'm a big fan of Sonos and have a bunch of it. Sonos, the Samsung, and the Sony Bravis Quad are three of the best from everything I've read and seen on the Youtubes. Budgetwise the Samsung is the most affordable with the Sonos and Bravia being around the same. Nakamichi Dragon was promised to be the be all end all but a lot of folks are pretty disappointed in Nakamichi for a reason unknown to me.

I have the Sonos Arc with 2 surround play 1 matched speakers and Sonos sub. It supports sound on my 75” Sony. It’s a perfect setup for the size of our family room. To my old ears, it’s nearly as good as my 7.1.2 setup in our last house-and a lot cheaper.

I have a Denon receiver with a Klipsch surround system that includes floor speakers with Dolby Atmos, center dialogue, rear bookshelf speakers on speaker stands and a 12” subwoofer. It doesn’t beat my BIL’s home theater rooms system but it is very nice and bought at a fraction of the price from Costco. It is much nicer than our soundbar run TVs.

I have a Sony TV (XR65X95K) and a Sony Soundbar (HT-A3000) that sound great and interoperate perfectly with one another. The soundbar supports wireless connections to its rear/side/subwoofer speakers, which gives excellent flexibility in locating speakers.

We are very happy with that setup.

I had a surround sound with the speakers mounted on the ceiling. It sounded good to me when I set it up.

When the receiver died, I replaced it with a Bose Sound bar.

As I get older my ears are crap anyway.

Guns, engines, and age have killed my hearing.

I am satisfied with it.

Really appreciate all the feedback!
I have since done a bit more research and noted pretty good reviews of the Sony Quad with subwoofer system, but from past experience tend to be leary of professional reviewers as they are often compensated in one way or another to sway opinions. I do like that it is Sony if there would be any compatibility issues, no pointing fingers at the "the other guy". I like the idea that the center channel uses the speakers that are in the TV which pretty much puts them in the best spot. The system is monetarily on rank with Sonos or other premium systems.
Have any of this group had real world experience with the Sony Quad? Do you like the results?

If the TV speakers are inadequate , why would using them as center channel be a good idea?

Because instead of providing 100% of the sound, the TV speakers can just worry about providing 1 channel's worth of sound.

That's my position. Just match brands instead of mixing and matching unless you're a "connoisseur."

I got my Sonos Arc Ultra set up yesterday and I was expecting to be totally disappointed but instead I was very pleasantly surprised. I tried the original Arc last year but found it small sounding and "thin", the Ultra is a pretty big change. For TV sound it's great all by itself and has impressive bass for it's diminutive size, there's some serious processing magic going on. Add the sub and you get bass you can feel. It doesn't dig as deep as my Rythmik sub does but we'll have neighbors when we move so I won't be able to play as loud as I've been for years. The Era 300's as surrounds really fill things out wonderfully and sound great on their own as a stereo pair with a huge soundstage.

The whole system sounds amazing for music, especially spatial music from the AppleTv. No, you don't get stereo separation like you do with separates and no, it's not a system for critical music listening but it does sound great for my use. My days of sitting and "listening" are behind me and music is on while I'm doing something else, for that use the system sounds great.

Our use is mostly TV with a couple movies a month and a little music thrown in. For my use, it doesn't leave me wanting more at all so far. Clean, neat, wireless, good looks and good sound. My TV is too old to send Atmos, it only has ARC and not eArc so I can't speak to the Atmos but 5.1 sounds great. I'm trying to hold off on a new OLED until we move.
