Do No Harm, Do Know Harm |
I teach a very large and consistent audience CPR. I know that the American Heart Association, through which I teach, offers and online instruction, followed up by in-person skills testing. Has anyone here done this method? I have not. If anyone has, can they comment on their perception of both the online structure and the skills practice? I believe it would be a benefit for my agency to change to that method. However, there would be some hurdles to overcome and some significant questions to workout. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard. -JALLEN "All I need is a WAR ON DRUGS reference and I got myself a police thread BINGO." -jljones | ||

I have. I am regional faculty with AHA and am a faculty instructor with the largest healthcare organization in AZ. We train roughly 15000 people a year in BLS and about half that in ACLS and half that in PALS With the rules they impose for online certs it simply didn't make sense for us to do it anymore. 3 students min required for the skills testing and you still had to show about an hours worth of videos during skills testing (to be 100% compliant). The students ended up taking about twice the time to get their certs before it was all done. We have banned it and require our staff to take a ground class or pay for it themselves and go to an outside training company (but obviously we discourage it). You are more than welcome to email me if you have any specific questions.
