I recently bought an 2024 Mazda 3 sedan and was wondering if there is any way to disable adaptive cruise control for good? I’m able to turn it off through the driver assist settings, but it defaults back to “on” every time I turn on the vehicle. Is there any way to force the vehicle to remember my choice after turning it off? | ||

Likely it can be done with Mazda diagnostic software but that is likely only at dealers. If an independent shop tells you they can code changes then that would indicate software exists outside of Mazda that can access this stuff. There is a Ross-tech software for VW/Audi called VAG-COM that has in a few instances better features than the factory deal. Supposedly it is a bit easier to use. As a result, most of their techs have it themselves as an adjunct capability. | |||

Question: the adaptive cruise control automatically turns on when you start the car but the car doesn’t automatically go on cruise control, right? And correct me if I’m wrong but when you do activate cruise control and adaptive cruise control is on, the ACC uses the car’s radar to slow down your car if it senses another car within a certain distance ahead of you. So what don’t you like about this feature? You might look for groups on line for your car. They have geeks on there that like to modify anything. I remember coming across one that showed how to disable the feature that prevents you from manually dialing a phone number on the car screen if you’re driving at any speed. Rey, that is correct. The adaptive cruise control does not activate immediately, but is the mode that is applied by default when I choose to engage cruise control. I’ll have to check out a Mazda forum as they would probably know definitively. | |||

I thought it was a stupid feature on the first car I had with it. In the end I liked that it would adapt to the car in front of me and maintain following distance without constantly fiddling with the stalks or turning on/off cruise control. The safety features I hate is automatic breaking/collision avoidance and lane keep assist. I couldn't figure out how to disable the lane keep assist on my last car and I was afraid it was going to kill me. I had to put the car in track mode to disable it which was really annoying if I just felt like driving normally. Jesse Sic Semper Tyrannis | |||

Have you looked under Settings? That's where I found how to disable Lane Keep on my CX-30. | |||

I’m able to permanently disable Lane Keep Assist, but so far that’s not the case with adaptive cruise control. | |||

Found it on mine: Settings> Safety Settings> Driver Assistance System> Mazda Radar Cruise Control. That's should take care of it. | |||

I would check the manual. My Honda lets change between standard cruise control and adaptive cruise. On mine, I believe I have to hold the cruise control bottom down for so many seconds. I have grown to like it, especially on longer trips when highway speeds are not consistent. I turn lane keep assist off for the very same reason. I’ve had it activate even when I have my turn signal engaged. Plus, living in Michigan there’s always construction and lane shifts that I’d rather not trust my vehicle to navigate on its own. | |||

Maybe if your car jerks the steering wheel. I don’t think my Genesis G70 does that. But I can’t see why you want to defeat the automatic collision avoidance breaking. IMO that could easily be a life saver. Serious about crackers | |||

I test drove a car and hated the lane keep assist. It started giving me feedback via the steering wheel. I’ve heard plenty of people say that dark shadows in the road have caused their emergency braking system to bring them to a sudden halt. I may trust it more down the road, but I’d still rather have control myself. | |||

Maybe they’re full of shit, but I’ve personally had my car’s “eyes” stop seeing and disable all active emergency systems. Just like any piece of software written by man, there are bound to be bugs. | |||
