אַרְיֵה is my Hebrew name. Pronounced "Aryeh." Meaning is lion. My mother used to call me by the Yiddish equivalent -- "Label."

May you have a wonderful holiday, whatever your religion (or lack thereof -- I don't want to exclude anyone).

Chanukah begins at sundown today, 24 Kislev 5779 (December 2, 2018).

My grandmother, although literate in Polish, Russian, and Yiddish, did not read or write English, so I don’t have her recipe.

My name in Hebrew is still Michael...they just say it different.

My dads father was Jewish, he married a Catholic, she got excommunicated until he died...I don't remember him and I was reared a Methodist...
