Battery Storage
Was checking my emergency supplies in my truck and then in my home duffel, and discovered my batteries (AA, AAA, 123, etc..) were corroded. I had them stored in these battery caddies but all had corrosion formed. I understand one solution is putting ointment/petro jelly on the terminals however that's a bit messy, I'm thinking of cleaning up the battery caddy's and putting the batteries into a small Pelican-dive container that's waterproof but...is that really solving the issue?

Store them in your freezer, and use them (ie., cycle through them)

Must be Duraleaks. I don’t care what anyone thinks of them but they are junk and have ruined more devices of mine than I care to admit. Switched to Energizers and haven’t had a problem in years. Someone will come in and say the opposite but it’s way too much of a coincidence for me to go back.

Agreed ^^^

Duracells suck. They used to be the best but that’s been a while ago.

Anything of appreciable value that uses AA batteries, I put Lithium batteries in. I don’t trust any alkaline battery not to leak. Lithiums also have longer shelf life, some for 25 years.

Yes there were.
Interesting to note, I hadn't come across this issue with Duracells and now that several others have had smilier issue...

Same issue with Duraleaks. To their credit, when leaking batteries destroyed a couple hundred dollar weather station, they paid for it. Mine are now Eneloops with some Energizers usually stored in the house.
