Realism vs Idealism.

All of the leftists core policies (socialism, gun control, open borders, health care, etc) are proven to not work. Not necessarily because they're bad ideas (most are), but because they go against human nature and man's (person's?) ability to maintain self-control. But they continue to think if we just pass some feel good laws and sing kumbaya the world will be at peace.

One is less bad.

Career politicians are the crux of it. Short of a Constitutional Amendment for term limits and no continuation of benefits upon leaving office via a Constitutional Convention of the States, I see no other way to get it done. This route is of course not without its own peril.

Gotta give credit to Senator Cruz for trying via the legislative route though.

If I may add to your post: You cannot kill some poor misunderstood person,(scumbag), just because he robbed, raped, assaulted, murdered some innocent people; after all he may just be a product of his environment or something beyond his control. This has a lot to do with why in over 40 years I can count the number of Democrats I have voted for on one hand.
