And now you know……….the rest of the story.
Those words bring back memories for many of us. I have been filling my windshield time listening to reruns of “The Rest of The Story”. Paul Harvey was a radio fixture in my younger life. I remember hearing his radio show in the afternoon with his signature “Good day!”.

It’s been cool “binge” listening to his material over a three hour drive today.

Who else is a fan?

I listened to his show forever. I was on my way into work in my black bird TransAm when his passing came on WNBF radio.

I remember Paul being on around noon here. I was in high school and then college and working w/ someone much older than I. At lunch, when we were around the shop we listened. That was always the best lunch, w/ Paul Harvey.

Yeah, I liked hearing his voice and the stories he told. It came on at a certain time on a particular station. I think I remember when he died and his son tried to keep the show going.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Big fan and I have read and reread the two book compilations that his son put together. Mike Rowe's "The Way I Heard It" podcast started out with similar stories that I found equally enjoyable.

Listened to his live performance every day a lunch at the gas station. 1977-1979.

I enjoyed getting 'the rest of the storey' along with
'That's the way it was' along with 'you are there'.

Definitely a fan. When my dad retired he messed around in his shop in the back yard and had an old AM radio. I think Paul Harvey and Rush were the only things we could tune in Other than a country station.

Always listened to him in my folk’s kitchen in the a.m. getting ready to go to school, work, whatever. I can picture the old radio, smell the coffee, hear the morning sounds of family going about their morning routines. I loved listening to him. I think “point of law” was on around that same time. My dad and I would wait to hear both. Thank you for bringing up those memories.

His voice, like Charles Kuralt, could keep you interested in a story you would otherwise not care about in the least.

Listened to him frequently. He lived in the Chicago area and drove himself to work every day in his Buick. I remember when he lost his voice and could not do the show. Successful surgery fixed the problem with his vocal cords. One of a kind.

Delivered in 1965! Prophetic he was.
