Not actual golf fans.

I hate to say it, but Tiger, playing well, is good for the game of golf. I admire his determination and mental discipline, beyond that, I don't think much of the guy.

You can't truly call yourself "peaceful" unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

I'm glad to see him successful again. I hope personally he's gotten some things figured out. I only hope the best for him.

That being said, he'll never be one of my favorites.

What’s your excuse when you’re at the shooting range and don’t hit what your aiming at every time?

I’ll agree with you on the hero worship aspect of any athlete for that matter.

However, your characterization of golf is just silly, an indication of how little you must know about the game and the nuances of top-level competitive golf.

If golf were easy, every weekend hack would be shooting 5 or 6 under on 7,300 yard layouts.

I am not a Tiger fanboy. Heck, I'm not even a golfer (I swing clubs once a year at a charity event).
I did however smile when I saw Tiger win. Yeah, he is flawed but who is perfect? I know I am not.
He worked hard to come back and I'll grant him his moment of sun (and hope there are more).

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

everybody has their flaws. I don't spite myself by being angry at the personal life of entertainers. most people say they want their entertainment separate from their real life... they want to escape. we don't want rock stars talking about politics or we don't want to think about crazy actors when they are in movies we like. well, I don't think about athletes' personal lives when they're on the field/course. unfortunately, a lot of my favorite athletes have had personal issues. same with actors or musicians. but on the field/stage/camera, they make me happy with their talent, and that's all I really care about.

Tiger is the greatest golfer I've ever watched and probably one of the top 3 greatest athletes I've ever watched. There are a lot of great young, exciting golfers on tour right now. Bgut none of them can match what Tiger has brought to the game, and as evidenced by this weekend, what he still brings to the game.

I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

I doubt that. Annika Sorenstam was playing long before Tiger and she had a physical fitness trainer.
He did bring mass attention to the game.

Annika is 5 yrs older and started her junior play only 2 yrs before Tiger did.

Gary Player was and still is a fitness fanatic years before both of the above were born. This however was NOT the norm until Tiger showed up and hit shots that others couldn't - because they weren't as strong as he was.
The whole crop of top PGA players grew up knowing that fitness, strength and speed through the ball was what it took to complete in the modern game.
(that and being able to putt the ball like it had eyes)

Is Tiger a dick? IMHO yes.
Is he one of the greatest golfers ever? Obviously yes.
Changing his attitude towards the fans would go a long way in my book but we'll have to see if that happens.
I like Tiger in contention because that's what drives golf in the era of TV. I also like to see other golfers hit shots though not just Tiger.

@Floyd: "Not actual golf fans."
Gee I wonder what drives advertiser dollars? "Actual" fans that play the sport or eyeballs on the TV?
More eyes = more $$$

BTW, just saw Annika at Raley's grocery store here in Incline Village doing a little shopping. She looked fit in a sponsor plastered jacket (Callaway, Lexus), yoga pants, flip flops, wet hair.
