Two newly recorded unrelated songs, but related song writers. Jackson Browne and Gregg Allman
I recently recorded a Jackson Browne song and a Gregg Allman song. They were roommates in 1967 in LA and I know Gregg got writing inspiration from Jackson, but I'm sure that became mutual.

I always thought Allman actually performed These Days better than Browne! Two great songs!

^^^ Yeah, I think Browne liked it better too. I do like Browne's finger style playing though.

Nice !

I’ve always been a southern rock/ blues rock fan. That LA music scene with Jackson brown and Glenn frey, and Linda Ronstadt et al all hanging around must have been something.

Fun story, my wife worked for a very small company in Marin County when she was 19-22 ish and Gregg was a regular customer. This is back in 93-97 or so. He never had money on him and was allowed to buy on credit. Would roll in wasted every time and forget to pick up his products. When he got a tab of a certain amount they would send the bill to his business manager in San Francisco. Being about the same age as his son Elijah (With Cher) the girls in the office would swoon over him as he was quite a good looking guy when he was ~20 and not fully down the road where he is now. Gregg had some curious female companions with him all the time as well. Never quite clear of they were household help, groupies or personal assistants or a combos of all 3.

Jackson Browne is certainly a guy I'd like to have a beer or ten with. He must have some amazing stories. He lived below Glen Frey and Don Henley. That's when Frey helped him finish writing the song Take It Easy. The circles he traveled in!

Good job on both covers!

ElToro, I read Gregg's biography and he lived a hell of a party life...until it was too late. He cleaned up, but by that time, the damage was done. He and the rest of the Brothers sure fit the rock and roll life.

Thanks!

Yes, he and that whole crowd would be a hoot to talk with. Those who are left anyway.

I remember seeing a interview with Frey where said he learned how to refine a song, over and over until it was right by listening to Jackson Browne slave over a song he was writing while Browne was his neighbor.
