Raw oysters mmmmmm
Wife out of town for a few days soo I was a bad boy: went to a very nice Pensacola Beach restaurant for $8.00 oyster night. Two dozen of these huuge oysters washed down by 3 drinks was enough for me so I rolled on home. A great, but short, evening. Even had an Apache roar over!

Nice! Try Cobalt in OB. They have fantastic grilled oysters when it gets too hot to eat them raw.

Drool. I love raw oysters. My wife, who doesn't like anything raw even likes them. Looks like you had a great meal.

Glad that you enjoyed ‘em, but they’re not for me. I tried raw oysters – once – at a San Diego seafood place. Got very ill. I figured it was salmonella, so called a reporting hot-line. The nurse that answered said that vibriosis was more likely. Never again. My people cook meat. I’ll stick with that plan.

I was in Jacksonville, FL and used to go to a place called Calico Jacks for oysters several times a week.

I drizzle some tequila instead of lemon on mine, let them marinade for 5 mins and then the other fixings. Y'all should try it.

Can’t eat them raw myself. But they’re only in season with a month that has a “R” in it. So good luck with that... Wink

Apparently, it's wise to avoid Gulf oysters, as they are most likely to have salmonella and other bad bacteria-- because of the warm waters. So I always ask about the origin, and if it is cold water, mmmmmm, I love me some good raw oysters. And "little neck" clams too, in New England, Hot sauce and lemon-- all washed down with beer. Perfect.

Look up vibriosis and the statistics on how many in the U.S. die annually eating raw oysters.

I love em cooked, but I'd never, take a change of getting vibrio from eating raw oysters.

Way too big a risk.

"With only about 30 total cases in the United States a year, it’s exceptionally rare. Your chances of finding a valuable pearl in one of the 2.5 billion oysters Americans eat a year are about 100 times greater than your chances of contracting vibrio vulnificus."

What kind are they? I used to love blue point but now I’m appreciating the larger ones. Japan has an amazing selection. But very expensive. I try to hit an oyster bar each time I go. A sprinkle of salt or sushi soy sauce and yum.

I love oysters. 2 dozen? Wow.

I just had a 1/2 dozen gulf oysters tonight. As long as you don't eat them in the really hot months, your good. I like them the best

Saltine cracker topped with a small dab of cocktail sauce, fresh horseradish, raw oyster (but not from the gulf), couple of drops of Tabasco, squeeze of lemon juice...one of my absolute favorites. Don't know if I've ever eaten more than three dozen at one time.

You guys are awesome. Most I have at a time is splitting a dozen. $5 per is $180 for 3 dozen. No can do for me. Except maybe as a bucket list item. Smile
