old rugged crossCordless phone recommendation
Need to buy a set of three phones with an answering machine.
For use by the elderly. So no small display or weird or overly complicated functions. Good Speaker function and may not always end back up in the cradle.
Recommendations please. Thanks guys.

avoid V-Tech at all costs. AT&T re-branded V-Tech is crap too.

HRK https://www.costco.com/cordless-telephones.htmlPlenty of options at Costco from V-tech, Motorola, ATT, and Panasonic...
The OOMA setup is good, gave one to my parents, it worked fine and you don't need a hard line, it can work over your wifi...

229DAKWe've had a 5-set Panasonic for 4-5 years and they have been flawless.

NK402Another vote for Panasonic. We've had several sets over the last twenty years at various houses. Never had any issues.

architectUnless cost of service is the over-riding factor, I'd avoid anything that is based on IP telephony to the instrument (ethernet or WiFi connection to the phone itself). This is because the operating principals are so different from traditional telephony that many people "just don't get it" and have great difficulty in setting it up, operating it, and troubleshooting. Now SIP and VoIP are revolutionary technologies that have clear advantages over POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service), but I have found that centuries of exposure to the latter have carved such deep channels in many peoples thought patterns that they can't understand the newer paradigm, unable to abandon concepts like "lines," "dialing," "pbx," artifacts of abandoned technology.

How come? I've had V-Tech here for well over 5 years with no problems whatsoever.

Ditto. Cheap and work just fine. Been using the V-Tech many moons.

HobbsUsing same AT&T set I've had for about 20yrs. Replaced the batteries in the extensions once.
I like that the base with answering machine is a corded phone and will likely look for that feature when upgrading one of these days.

bigdealDang. I just donated a complete four phone Panasonic setup to Goodwill given it was just taking up space on a closet shelf. I'd have been more than happy to just send to you.
