selogicBriggs & Stratton lawnmower engine help
Get ready for sticker shock when you buy Non Ethanol gas . I only use E-0 in my generators . Since I run my mowers nearly year round I use E-10 with a shot of Seafoam or Sta-Bil .

Para, Murphy gas stations, usually near a Walmart, sell Ethanol Free gas. Many of them have the new pumps with a dedicated hose (BLUE handle) just for the Ethanol Free.
Some of the Race Trac and QT's have it as well

gjgalliganItems that get used a lot, like the lawn mower, I just use regular gas untill the end of season. Then I let it run until the tank runs out.
Very seldom have any problems.
Low use items get a full tank of pure gas to finish out the season.

Regarding pulling off the carburetor- to say I was hesitant to do so is quite the understatement.
I understand the reluctance to pull off a carburetor, especially if one is not mechanically inclined. But with youtube videos and the like these days, it's not too difficult to do. As some have stated, it's just a matter of pulling off the air cleaner and the carb is right there. Something like a total of 3-4 screws. Take pics of things before disassembly. I have repaired a lot of appliances around the house in this manner, even some simple car stuff, using online videos. That wouldn't have been possible years ago. But everyone has to know their limitations. It would be beyond embarrassing to take a box of parts to a small engine shop, not to mention expensive.
I have a 1997 John Deere push mower, and I have only had to clean out the carb twice, replace the primer bulb once, and some of the wheels in all those years. Plus keep the blade sharp. It keeps on running so I see no reason not to keep using it. Knock on wood. I swear my neighbor has been through 10 mowers in that same time frame.

HRKWaWa sells non ethanol as well, just have to check around to find a store that sells it.
I run StarTron fuel additives through my small engines, we really don't have a storage issue with mowers in Florida. However we do with our generators. I put the Startron in with the fuel in the generator, before doing that every year I was pulling the carb and cleaning it before the next hurricane even though I'd turned off the fuel and ran it till it quit.
There are several other products for fuel storage,
It's also good at cleaning out fuel systems, so it goes in the pickup, and motorcycle on occasional tanks to keep things clean..
https://www.starbrite.net/start-run-store/You can also get lubricant pens from any auto supply store, they have a "needle" that you insert into cables to allow it to get inside.
Since you have a new cable, you might want to get one of the pens and drop a bit of lube into it from time to time and before you store it to help keep it moving properly.

41There are needles that attach to your grease gun:

Once I started using E-0 in my lawnmower, I had zero problems.

I have zero problems with my own mowers running E-10 because I use them almost year round . The fuel is always fresh .
