TAllen01Suit help! Promotion interview...
I'm one of those "big law" guys, and studied "Dress for Sucess" long ago.
Navy or dark charcoal pinstripe suit, white shirt (avoid button down and go spread or point collar, your choice), power tie (red, yelow, or blue), black socks, black belt, black shiny shoes, whether Oxfords, captoes, or something similar. Cola Haan is a good choice for $100. You can also find Johnston and Murphy for $100 if you shop around.

I've always set it with the tip of the tie to be about where the center of the belt buckle is while standing straight up.

This guy reminds me of a flying instructor I flew with who had an amazing ability to cram 10 minutes worth of information into an hour.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown August 05, 2017, 02:48 PM

ChachGood luck on the interview, mate!
Side note, what's the consensus thought on when cufflinks are appropriate? Are they OK whenever a suit can be worn, or only for "more special" occasions?
Personally I'm of the opinion they're good for dinners & special events, but over dress for the likes of a job interview.

BB61Wingtip or Cap Toe Oxfords are what you want. Black or cordovan.
Learn to tie your tie correctly. I would use a Half Windsor knot.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h5DOU0_w-Kw I would also buy a power red tie (Google it) or yellow tie that has a pattern similar to a power red tie. Tie length is important. The tip of your tie should end 1/2 way down your belt buckle. If your tie's tip ends partway down your "beer belly" you will make a terrible impresion. Make sure you have a dress belt that matches the color of your shoes. Dress socks that match your suit or are darker in color (black always works) is a must as well. No white or brown socks. Buy a long sleeve white or light blue dress shirt only. I would consider a button down as they are easier to use. I would have it laundered with a medium starch.
I would also write down the potential questions and topics you will be asked and practice providing short succinct answers in front of a mirror. Don't memorize a standard answer, memorize concepts and string them together. I did this for an interview process a few years ago for a job that included me interviewing with the governor of my state - I got the job.

Same here. I have the same shoes in walnut. Navy suit goes with, black or Cordovan, which is more formal or dark or light brown which is trendy but less formal. You need shoes that can be polished.

thumperfbcUpdate:
Results from the testing process are in. I scored #1 out of the 12 applicants. 10 of those 12 managed to under prepare themselves to a failing score. There are about 8 slots available and 2 of us to fill them, so the odds are in my favor, I'd say.
Since the results were insufficient there is talk of a new round of testing in October. Some good people failed this time. I hope they pass next go around.
As for me and the other applicant, we have a face to face next week with the Captain, Undersheriff, and Sheriff, who has ultimate veto power. I can still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but I think I'll be ok.

squad13Good Job and best of luck next week!!
Also, good thread about current fashion. Being of the "younger" crowd I've been chastised for wearing black shoes with blue/navy suits. Brown and Blue all the way...
