This might belong in the NC thread but I think it deserves its own discussion. Last November the entire central government went Republican. I was elated, thinking at last we can hopefully turn things around including the PC culture. I think I was naive. The culture can't and really shouldn't be affected by whose in the WH or in other levels of government.

In fact cycles come and go pretty much on their own. Excesses on either side tend to be self correcting. In the meantime I doubt there's a whole lot we can do except on an individual level.

We can lobby for school vouchers and promote home schooling. But as far as stopping schools from disciplining kids for pointing a stick, even if the staff were removed, it wouldn't remove the ideology that leads to such actions.

Another example of Rules for Radicals in action:

But we can prevent the radical leftist ideology squashing everybody else. The present day rabble rousers are not your basic average American, nor the Democrat of yesteryear. They are indeed a radical socialist ideology.

I witnessed a small version of this at our HOA meeting recently when a retiree was squashed for flying a Mississippi state flag. An anonymous complaint was filed saying a person felt offended. Presumably they thought there was some racist statement being made.

Anyhow, the HOA told the homeowner that due to the hyper-polarized nature of society today it was best to just not do anything which may cause offense.

It was ironic the person saying this didn't see how it would be offensive to the homeowner to have his freedom squashed. It is ok to offend the homeowner when some anonymous snowflake (possibly not even a resident of the neighborhood) imagines an offense.

What should have happened was the HOA get the homeowner's response explaining what the flag is, and then tell anyone who complains about it that they are being unreasonable. We can indeed turn things around if we stop allowing the indoctrination of our kids and if we respond to the nonsense publicly.

The correct response to speech we find aversive is the free speech to rebuke it. Unfortunately the radical left is shaming and squashing speech they don't like. We should resist fear of their tactics.

Acceptance equals assent. I bitched every time the lefties tried to indoctrinate my daughtr. She suffered for it some, but found her center. Go down fighting.
