This is the most telling statistic. The adult victims were once these teens, just waiting for the the bullet with their name on it to finally reach out to them. In the case of the teens, it arrived early. There is no legit reason for teens/minors to be out past midnight. P229 | |||

While it is interesting to have age and sex of the victims, I think what would be really telling is listing the race of the victim as well. I noticed during the evening news there was no mention of it. | |||

I’m expecting more marches and protests any time now. Not. Another thing. Nobody didn’t see nuthin, no one heard nuthin either. *Until* someone in your own family takes a bullet. Now it’s an outrage! I’m not dismissing the anguish and suffering of a surviving victim. But this problem will never go away, and in fact will grow far worse, unless it is squarely and harshly dealt with at the family/church/block level. The local culture is rotted from its core and will take a generation of courageous people (mostly young men and fathers with church leaders and community business owners) to forcefully call it like it is and lead by example. And Phleger isn’t the example I’m thinking of. He may have done a few things right (speaking out against trash/cop killer rap), but he loses credibility when he throws in with Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan. Odd that many of these incidents are covered under what the media called "mass shooting" incidents. yet nothing is every released in that area. Only when it's to their benefit to call for additional useless laws. | |||

Until the people in the affected neighborhoods begin breaking with the culture (bad misnomer) and start identifying those responsible for the killings/shootings (and testify in court) so that the miscreants can be convicted and put away. this problem will continue (and grow). It is well past time for the shooters to be publicly outed and prosecuted; when most of them have been taken off the streets, then there will be calm and safety--but not before. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth | |||

Not CPDSig but I can tell you. 5600 w is Central Ave and 4800 North is Lawrence Ave so it's Lawrence and Central where you grew up. Still good but there is an Alderman up there who is doing his best to destroy the area. Alderman John Arena wants to build a subsidized housing building on the 5500/5600 block of N Milwaukee right across from the 016th district Police station. There is a considerable amount of community anger directed at him but he's going ahead with it anyway. Anyone that disagrees with him is a knuckle dragging racist of course. Crime wise it's still good but if he is allowed to build this building that is sure to change. It's still mostly blue collar middle class with a bit of hispanic moving in. Were I looking to buy in Chicago I'd give it a shot if the price and building were right. Of course txes are rising. | |||

This was actually only covered on the media today because Giuliani made a mistake with the numbers, so all the news sources had to cover the Fact that he had the death toll too high.. It was only 11 deaths in one weekend. The Five covered this on Fox..and they said the death toll would be much higher except the hospitals and Drs. are getting very very good at treating gun shot victims. I just might do that Yooper. We used to go to Traverse City every year. Haven't been there in a couple. We are planning on going back next year. When we go, we go around the Lake through Indiana into Michigan. On the return trip we go through the UP, down through Wisconsin and into Illinois. Perhaps we can hook up. | |||
