Mr. B's Bistro. Go there for dinner and get the shrimp and grits with red eye gravy, you're welcome in advance!

I've never had a better rendition of shrimp and grits! I liked this restaurant so much I bought their cookbook!

Don’t remember how close either one is to the museum but Antoine’s and Commander’s Palace were excellent when I last visited (admittedly several years ago).
Enjoy your trip.

Made a reservation at Couchon for Tuesday night (thanks looks great!) Ever heard of Mothers? Spousal Unit wants to go there bad. (She nixed Mr B's as grits were mentioned and she promptly made retching noises.......)

Gautreau's - Upscale NOLA cuisine
Arnaud's - Long time NOLA French standard
Mother's Restaurant - home of debris sandwiches
Palace Cafe - Brennan family flagship restaurant, inventor of bananas foster
Willie Mae's Scotch House - arguably best fried chicken, 2005 James Beard Classic Winner
Johnny's Po Boy - Oldest family owned restaurant in NOLA
Jacques-Imo Cafe - unique Cajun-Creole
Acme Oyster House - barbecued oyster hot spot
Antoine's - Oldest restaurant in US 1840, invented oyster Rockefeller
Mosca's - Unique Italian/Creole, awarded 1999 James Beard Classic award

Go out to the Garden District and eat barbeque shrimp at Pascal's Manale.

Lots of good suggestions here! I'll add the Bon Ton Cafe on Magazine St, not too far from the museum. BUT; I'd heard it maybe closing so better check first. I never miss an opportunity for a great meal at Bon Ton; the same family has owned it forever.

You can't go wrong with any of Donald Link's restaurants, besides the mentioned Cochon and Herbsaint, he's also got the following:

Cochon Butcher - sandwich & salad shop next door to Cochon
Peche Seafood Grill - 3-blocks away, modern seafood with some familiar regional favorites.
La Boulangerie - neighborhood bakery, phenomenal breakfast sandwich.
Gianna - Italian with NOLA influence, 4-blocks away.

Drago's Restaurant and Seafood Bar. Recommended to me by a half dozen different Nawlins residents when I was down there on a job a couple of years ago....and they were right. Outstanding.

Domenica at the base of the Roosevelt Hotel, order one or two of their pizzas, some of the best pizza I've ever had.

We ate at several places around the French Quarter, they were all just OK except for the Ruby Slipper Cafe. We had an outstanding breakfast there, staff was awesome

100% do this, they're delicious. I'd also suggest Acme Oyster House, Brennan's for breakfast/brunch, and Galatoire's. I would avoid Mother's, it was one of the most sub-par meals I've ever had, nothing was very good. I think it's been hyped up way too much. The Muffaletta at Central Grocery was very good, and it's pretty close to Cafe Du Monde so you knock out two icons in one hour. Commanders is a must if you have time.
