I'm Going to be a Texan!
My wife accepted a new job in Dallas, so we are going to be Texans! Moving day is (hopefully) February 16, so we'll be there on Feb. 17. She starts on the 21st.

Her job is in Irving. We'll be renting an apartment in Grapevine for a year until we sell our house in NM and figure out exactly where we want to live.

I'll still be working in South Carolina, but this will make the "commute" easier - one flight instead of two or three. And from Dallas, you can get to pretty much everywhere easily. (Except for this past Tuesday/ Wednesday.)

See y'all soon!

Welcome to Texas

I'm a Texan by choice, not accident of birth . It's my 14th year in Texas.

Welcome to Texas - Grapevine to Irving is a short and easy hop. Been here in DFW for 67 years, wouldn't trade it for anywhere else.

Also easy to get to the airport from Grapevine, it look like.

Welcome to Texas!

And yes, Grapevine is a hop and a skip from DFW airport. Also TexRail runs a train to Terminal B from Grapevine's Main St station, a 10 minute ride in case you don't want to park at the airport.

Welcome! I am a transplant, too --have been in Dallas now for 42 years and very pleased with my choice.

There are a lot of SF members in the DFW area. Maybe we could arrange a welcoming dinner?

Welcome to Texas, from a native born Texas expat. I grew up right next to Grapevine in Keller, and while I'm sure it has changed a bunch in the 22 years since I left, I enjoyed my time there. Good choice.

Thanks all for the welcome! As I mentioned, I work in SC so spend most of my time there, but I will be looking for things to do when I'm home. I'll be in town just a few days to get my wife settled then back to work. But when I know I'll be in town again, I look forward to meeting up.

Believe it or don't, I have never met any of my imaginary friends in person yet. Hoping to rectify that.

Where in SC? I spent 4 years at Shaw AFB outside Sumter. Good folks there.
