'Medicare for all' could save businesses trillions of dollars
quote:
It is likely that the actual cost of M4A would will be substantially greater than these estimates, which assume significant administrative and drug cost savings under the plan, and also assume that healthcare providers operating under M4A will be reimbursed at rates more than 40 percent lower than those currently paid by private health insurance. And probably most important, that the government, which has 'never' estimated the costs of any federal program within a tolerance of 75%, will be providing estimates for, and running, M4A."
A couple small corrections/additions to the text of the aforementioned study that provide far better accuracy and truthfulness.

The study doesn't support the idea of M4A it just explains the numbers behind some of the assumptions. The two that jumped out at me are:
1. A doubling of the personal and corporate tax rate won't cover the cost to the government. They also assume the real costs, unlike the projected costs, will be much higher.
2. The assumption is the government will lower the payments to providers by 40%. No mention of whether the providers will accept or be able to stay in business at that rate.
For sure medical and pharmaceutical R&D will slow or halt in the USA under these circumstances and the foreign socialist medical systems that have benefitted will suffer, which they aren't doing now. All those claims of drugs being so much cheaper overseas will change. This message has been edited. Last edited by: 220-9er, August 07, 2018 01:46 PM
Say goodbye to new cures for diseases. Companies couldn't and wouldn't pour huge amounts of money into research if there were no chance of making money on their inventions.
A cure for cancer? Nope, never happening under M4A.

Open borders and half of the population not paying taxes? Oh yeah, this will definitely be the cheapest, most efficient way to go. Good thing the corporations are gonna give back that money they're going to save, I'll need it for my 500% tax increase.
