I appreciate all the comments. We’ve all been doing research, and I’ve been keeping a list of distilleries we might want to visit. I note that Glenfarclas is a Speyside distillery and I already had it on my list as twice recommended, mttaylor’s recommendation makes 3 and I think we’ll make the effort to go there. Glenmorangie has been mentioned in this thread, and online it was recommended on three different sites as a great distillery to visit; it’s in the Highlands. This is not a distillery tour, but it makes sense to give reverence to the whisky the people there have so much pride in. The scenery will certainly be spectacular and the country is essentially wide open to hike about anywhere you want. We will do a clockwise tour of Scotland beginning in Edinburgh. Glasgow, Oban, Isle of Skye, Inverness, St. Andrews and back to Edinburgh for departure. _______________________________________________________ despite them

Highland Park 12 is my most favorite. If I was forced to one bottle for ever HP12 would be it. For the price it punches well above its weight flavor wise. I've tried the older offerings, but they are never worth the extra money for me anyway. _________________________ OH, Bonnie McMurray!

If you are driving around, it might make sense to plan your destinations and then seek a distillery nearby. There are lots of smaller ones around that can provide a more personal tour than the big well known ones. I visited Blair Atholl distillery while staying in Pitlochry. Pitlochry has a nice hotel/castle and is a quaint little touristy town. Blair Atholl does some very nice mild scotches. Calgary Shooting Centre

Appreciate it, and we will certainly consider it. We have two nights in Portree and two in Inverness, so it’s in the realm of possibility. ETA: all destinations are already planned and hotels booked. Distilleries in each vicinity are exactly what we’re looking at, although with two nights in a couple places, more possibilities open up. Glenmorangie Distillery has been mentioned. It’s not right along the planned route, but appears to be only about 40 miles north of it.This message has been edited. I also like Highland Park. I also like Glenmorangie port cask. Not a scotch expert but have sampled a few. Don’t like heavy peat. "Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it." L.Tolstoy "A government is just a body of people, usually, notably, ungoverned." Shepherd Book

Highland Park has been mentioned 2 or 3 times. I’ll make a point of trying it, but we’re not going up to the Orkneys. Dalwhinnie is a possibility and is in the neighborhood of Blair Atholl With two nights on the Isle of Skye in Portree, Talisker is kind of a no-brainer. _______________________________________________________ despite them

I was going to suggest a laphroig cask strength (on my shelf right now), but I see it’s a peat monster lol. I must be afraid of it because it’s been there since idk when "The days are stacked against what we think we are." Jim Harrison

Not found in your chart, but the favorite by USAF officers in the 1960-1980 time frame was Cutty Sark (link https://www.abcfws.com/cutty-sark-scotch/262902). flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

My favorites as well. I've given away bottles of Islay. Can't stand the taste or smell. SIG556 Classic P220 Carry SAS Gen 2 SAO SP2022 9mm German Triple Serial P938 SAS P365 FDE P322 FDE Psalm 118:24 "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it"
