Recently, after a windows update Google Chrome Browser has started crashing, it can just be sitting there viewing pages online, and it will pop up the windows "Your Program has crashed do you want to send Windows all your private information or just Kill the offending program"

Once that happens it always happens when you start Chrome. Online searches yield the same results, uninstall, reinstall, run some google checks for malware, etc

Malwarebytes shows no babayahs, so I'm switching to Firefox for now. So far so good.

Anyone else seeing Chrome take a dump? Win 7 Pro machine.

Both of my Windows 10 machines are fully updated and running Chrome without issues. Wonder if it could be a Windows 7 issue.

I've had more trouble with Windows 10 that all the other operating systems combined since I started using computers.
Doesn't do anything better for me, does a lot of things worse.

Probably an extension that didn't like the update. Go to Settings...chrome://extensions and shut off all extensions and see if it still crashes. If it doesn't crash, start enabling them one at a time until it does crash. Then you know which extension is causing the problem.

Could be anything, could be your ram, could be the Chrome install is corrupt on your drive somehow. Could be you're infected. Could be you've installed a bad extension for Chrome (perhaps check extensions first if you know what that means). I would start by saving any Chrome related settings you might need then wiping Chrome off of the machine completely, then reinstalling.

P.S. Regardless of what anyone tells you, it's getting past time to get off of Windows 7. Start thinking of your upgrade/migration to Windows 10.

I had Win 7 Ultimate and held off as long as I could. Upgraded to Win 10. It's Ok.

Why haven't you?

If I could have stuck with Win 7 I would have, because my experience all the way back to 3.1 is just stellar. But now, well, 10 is actually not a shit show.

Arc.

Make sure your flashplayer software is up to date. Many websites use that utility and it will crash chrome if it's not up to date.

Delete all of your temp files first if you have not done that in a while (or ever). Sometimes that will cause a ton of problems with browsers.

Win 7 is old, and something may not be compatible with it. I like the idea of trying your extensions one at a time and see if one is the problem.

After that, reinstall Chrome.

But it may be time for a new OS, and/or a computer that can run it.

In many cases "add-ons" or program-related "helper" files can cause havoc in any browser.
Disable them, delete the cache and reset the browser.
Additionally, some links to a browser can be appended with malware causing opening errors or similar.
Also logon with a different profile to test whether the issue is profile (user) related.

I'll do that, the last windows update was 3/14 and it ran fine until this week. I could do the upgrade to 10, machine will handle it, I just lag on doing MS OS upgrades, in no hurry to get the latest OS.
