Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
I had a right total knee replacement done in March. Next week I will be six months post op. Took longer than I hoped to get back on the bike and between my return to work, knee surgery, etc (search my other posts if you really care) I managed to regain about 60 of the pounds I lost during my 21 month unpaid “sabbatical” before winning a split decision in my arbitration with my employer. With that all behind me and now officially and honorably “retired” in good standing since mid-July, I have tried to get back into my routine of more exercise and less food to get rid of those pounds again. Dropped about 6 lbs over the course of this month and am starting to see enough knee improvement to start pushing harder. Today I managed to go 45 miles on the bicycle, my longest ride this year and it felt pretty good. I thought the last 5 miles might kill me, big difference once I got off the nice shaded trail and did the 8 mile push for home in full sun at 80 degrees. Glad I decided to hold at 45 instead of the 50 I was thinking about around the 30 mile point on the trail. Seattle area had a taste of fall last week, and we have had our first few days of lows dropping into the 40’s. Summer is back this week and looking good for at least the next week so hopefully I can get a few more long rides in before the weather changes for good. Neat app I came across that does a 3D video of your routes and if you take photos along the way it incorporates them along the route. I’m not a fan of how the app determines elevation gain as the shorted me a couple hundred feet. My guess is it goes by mapping data for the route, but both my iPhone and bike computer put me closer to 900’ gain vs the 650 or so the app reports. If you’re interested… sorry for the adds, don’t have a means to host video to link to. https://www.relive.cc/view/v7O922VkkQ6 What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

After age 40 exercise is close to irrelevant for weight loss - it is all about the kitchen and dining table. While all the “fad of the week” diets do work, the ultimate answer is calorie deficit end of story.

Well exercise burns calories so that helps to create the deficit I went from 360+ to 200 in the span of about 9 months through walking, cycling, rowing machine, and fewer calories in and drastic reduction in carb intake. Frequent exercise also increases your overall metabolic rate while simply reducing calories will sometimes slow the metabolism. Agree though it is as simp,e as calories in vs calories out. No magic or fad shortcuts. What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

Exercise has a lot more benefits than just burning calories. Glad to hear you were able to get back out on the bike and put in some miles!
