That's a nice looking pup.
Congratulations on your new moose. All kids need a dog.

Moose sure is a cute puppy!

No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

A great looking puppy and if he is this big at 7 weeks Moose is a very appropriate name because he's going to get really big.

About Neutering, spend some time researching the side effects on the Net. Because Neutering a large breed dog before they are a year old can lead to very expensive joint issues. In an ideal world you really want to wait until they are full grown but that can take up to two years for a large breed dog. Print out everything you find and ask them to extend the time for neutering to at least 1 year. If they won't grant that request then ask them agree to pay for any treatment of hip displasia. BTW that is a side effect of early neutering.

I've stopped counting.

Great addition to the family, puppies are such a PITA but worth it in the long run.

Great looking pup. They are so much work but what they return is priceless. I don't think I will ever not have a dog.

Not quite a week in and things are going good. He's eating great and sleeping all night (with one or two quick pee breaks outside) in his kennel as long as somebody is in the room with him. Potty training is going well. He goes when we take him outside, as if he knows that's where he's supposed to do it. He still hasn't figured out to ask on his own to go out yet, but that'll come. Right now if we do our part and make sure he gets out regularly there are very few accidents.

The chewing is going to be his biggest challenge, I think. There's no malice in it, but he is serious about exercising those puppy teeth. When he wakes up from a nap full of energy he goes a little crazy...I call it a shark attack lol. My wife and I and the two older kids are able to squash it pretty quick or re-direct it to a toy or something else acceptable. The two younger boys still kind of freak out, which just eggs him on. They're both at least 10x bigger than him and can easily control him, they're just not assertive enough to make it happen. Consistency is going to be the key in breaking him of that, and some of it he may just have to outgrow.

He is definitely smart. My very annoying and disobedient 4 year-old nephew was over last night and was screaming and running in circles around the couch so that the dog would chase him (despite being told multiple times not to do that). Moose of course went after him for about two laps, but then he just sat down and turned around to face the other way and ambushed him when he came around for lap 3. He even had a look on his face that basically said, "Really stupid?" It made me laugh out loud, which I don't think my SIL appreciated very much Big Grin. My wife for some reason agreed to watch that kid all day on Thursday...thankfully I'll be at work, but I predict a bad time for everyone involved.

Moose's most endearing quality is definitely the cuddles. He sleeps a lot and when he does he always finds a lap and snuggles right in. It's possible we're creating a 90lb lap dog by encouraging this, but I'm totally good with that Big Grin!

^ that is awesome Big Grin. My buddy has a Lab/Mastiff mix, and he does exactly that, lol.

I got home from working a detail about an hour ago. My wife and kids are at homeschool co-op, so I let Moose out of the kennel and he did his typical 10 minutes or so of trying to eat my feet, then crawled up on my lap and fell asleep. So now I'm just sitting here browsing sigforum, it's snowing outside, and I've got a sleeping puppy curled up on my lap. Not a bad way to spend a day off!

Max is a Bullmastiff/Pittie mix. That's a great looking pup you've got there, and Moose is a terrific name for him.

Update on the Moosester. Had his first checkup appointment today at the shelter. He's up over 2lbs to 12.6. They told me he's bigger than all of his siblings...probably because he's been living in a house and eating so well. They only have one of the four left. His sister just got adopted yesterday. Sounds like the vet tech is thinking about taking the last one, so a happy ending for all.

Moose went for a 2 mile walk with me and the younger boys today, and did great. We're back home now, and his affinity for naps on laps has not changed a bit Smile.
