I think these are called camp chairs? We use them at baseball and soccer games; the kind that fold up into a long narrow cylinder and get carried in a long pouch?

The ones we had fell apart last season and I trashed them all and we need new ones.

What are some good brands? Or all they pretty much the same?

I'm also interested. Most of them seem to be absolute trash that break within a year of use or less. And I'm not even fat.

My kid gave us a gift card to Bass Pro Shops, and we picked up a couple of camp chairs. We don't use them a lot, but we've had them a long time.

I’ve had two of the Kijaro dual lock chairs for 8-10 years. To be honest the lock is not always easy to engage when it’s folded but it holds firm when open. It’s seen a lot of baseball games and tennis matches over the years. They have dual cup holders and a zippered pouch that hangs off the side of the seat. They have held up well beyond my expectations.

I just did a quick search and the brand still pops up on lists of recommended chairs. The REI camp chairs and Coleman chairs also seem to be on most lists.

We went with CGI folding rocker chairs for this. Much more comfortable than the cheap ones that last a year.

^^^^ Agree on these. Plus, there is a sling and a strap on the frame so you don't have to wrestle with that stupid storage bag.

If you want to get something that is truly comfortable consider one of the options from Strongback.

They are very well made and they offer several options depending on your needs. They are not cheap, nor do they fold up quite as small as those cheap ones but it’s a case of buy once cry once. We’ve had ours for over ten years and they still perform like new.

. . .offers good support, comfort, breathability, and a decent price-point. The pics and description does not show or say it, but our chairs have a sling such that when they are folded up they can be carried slung from your shoulder.

That said, the cheap pop-rivets that hold it together will eventually shear and break, but they are easily replaced with the correct sized nuts and bolts to repair the chair.

These are complete garbage if you are outside in cold weather.
The shocks seize in the cold weather and the company does not stand behind their product or honor their warranty.

Wife spent big bucks on one for me with the rocker and full sun shade.
Did not even last one year before the shocks seized.

Won’t do business with them again.

I have since bought the beefy Members Mark chairs and they are holding up well.

The Walmart ones find them on season sale. We have been using same ones for years. Many camping trips and other assorted bring your own chair gatherings. If it craps out, toss in trash and buy new for <$20

Thanks for all the recommendations. Wife found some decent ones on Amazon we are going to get and just treat as a disposable wear item to get a good couple years out of.

I tried one of those expensive fancy rocking piston types at a friends house and I wanted to like it but just did not. I want to sit flat and level, not rock. And they were very heavy compared to the ones we are used to.

I think for these items, you can go one of two-ways:

a) Find exactly or, close to what you're looking for and ignore the price-tag.
b) Get something that is close to what you want but realize the ideal chair isn't out there so, cap your spending at a certain amount and know that you'll replace it with something else within a few years.

My big test is does any of the support bars dig-in? Most of the cheap models the cross-bar either digs into the back of your thigh and about 30-minutes into sitting you've lost feeling in your legs or, there's a bar hitting your back at some point If seat fabric is even close to touching a bar, within a year of usage and stretching you'll be touching that bar.

I've yet to find the perfect chair but, brands/places to consider:

The Yeti chairs are big bucks, but super comfortable and super durable. Downside is they are pretty heavy. Yeti claims the tubing is double-walled. We use them for kids sports, and outdoor chairs at home. LawnchairUSA makes 80’s style lawn chairs that are well-made, lightweight, and more affordable if you have the space for something that is larger when folded. I keep a couple in my RC plane trailer, and I’m very happy with those as well.

I like the ones at academy sports. forget the brand but easy to "fit" for comfort there in the store. Reasonably priced incase one gets left behind

My experience also. I have "the best" from Cabela's with a steel frame and heavy duty canvas that have lasted years. I go to a free summer concert series and the parking is almost 1 mile from the event. After a couple of those trips carrying 4 of those chairs and the cooler, I no longer wanted "the best." I don't like cheap disposable, but I went lighter frame aluminum "good enough."

The second part of this is the cooler. If you have to walk a bit either, very small lunch pail size with only the essentials, medium soft side bag with a shoulder strap, or have wheels.

In my experience, most traditional camp chairs people use for soccer games, or camping, are either heavy and overbuilt, expensive junk, or cheap and break quickly. The best I have found are the ones Kroger sells for $10-20, depending on whether they are on sale. They are sturdy, comfortable, don’t have a mesh back for bugs to bite me through, and if embers blow on them while I’m out of my seat, they don’t cost much to replace. I can try to find out the brand name, but it took me a while to find some that I liked.

If you want something small and packable, the NEMO Moonlite series is comfortable, well-built, and stable. The REI Flexlite Air isn't bad if you need a budget option, but it's not as stable.
