Have a great and safe trip. Bryce canyon is beautiful. There's a lot to see there in Southern Utah within driving distance. Zion, Escalante National Monument, there's really too much to list.
I would highly recommend stopping by kanaraville falls on your way there or back. Its right off the 15 northeast of St George and i
Has some beautiful hiking.

Pack light. No matter how big the RV looks, with a family in it space is at a premium! As a corollary, make sure everyone keeps things put away.

There is a ton of stuff to see and do in southern Utah. It's one of my favorite places on earth. Make sure you get beyond the pull-outs and parking lots!

And as others have observed, plenty of water. Sunscreen. Hats.

Don't haul water unless destination doesn't have it (saves mpgs).

Fill water tank to lessen rocking once set up.

Catch black water flow grey water.

Just prior to black water dump, catch grey water for a day or so to rinse after black dump.

If it hasn't or couldn't pass through you digestive system it shouldn't go into the drains or toilet (that's trash).

Click shower off while sudsing up.

Back up against wheel chocks and set fronts chock before things shift forward (requires assistant).

If backing up a bumper pull, place hand at bottom of steering wheel and move it in the direction you want the trailer to go.

Stay safe and have fun!!

I was at Bryce a few years ago, an amazing place. I went to Arches, Zion and Canyonland too. I could have spent about three months in southern Utah, it is beautiful. Enjoy your time there and hopefully it's not too crowded.

Take 20 minutes and talk to the park rangers, they know what is going on ,where, with plants, animals, people and the weather. They can make your stay and experiance and much better and perhaps safer. You are in their back yard ,they will have answers and suggestions.

Dave, when is your planned trip to Bryce? I haven't taken our RV to Bryce yet. I know you already have a campground in mind. But if you can, check out Ruby's Inn RV Park and Campground. They also have a hotel property on site. If you are using their RV park, you can use their in-door pool as well. They also have a nice restaurant inside. We have stayed at their hotel during winter and we love the place. Very close to Bryce Canyon gate. If you have time, try to pass by Zion National Park on your way back home. Even just for a night or so. Hopefully the National Parks are already open during your planned trip. Even with the current National Park closures, there are few private campgrounds that are still open.

To answer your question... I would travel with at least 10 gallon water to flush the toilet. If you are staying and eating mostly in the RV, I would pack the refrigerator with food. Drinks, I would bring enough for the actual drive, and stop at the last grocery before you reach the campground and buy all the drinks you need (water, juice, soda and beer). If you own the RV, I would plug in the refrigerator 3 days before to get the refrigerator cold enough, before you put the food inside (freezer and cold storage). If you are renting the RV, then I would plug or start the fridge ASAP. I would fill up gas when you drop to half tank. You don't want to take chance. And fill up again before you reach the campground. If the RV have generator, you would need back up gas to run the generator in case of power outage at the campground. If you are renting the RV, make sure they show you how EVERYTHING work. When you get to the campground and you want to shower in the RV, watch the "GREY" tank monitor and dump as needed. The "BLACK" tank, I doubt you will need to empty it during your stay. Before you depart, flush BLACK tank first. Then GREY tank to rinse the sewer hose. How are you going to drive around when you get to the campground Dave? Are you towing a car or will you use the RV to drive around the area? There aren't big enough parking for a bigger RV inside Bryce Canyon. If Bryce Canyon's tram is in operation, then you can use that to go around the park itself.

We have been RVing for the past 5 years or so. It is so much fun. Enjoy your trip with the family and the experience. Email me if you have questions.

Keep it on the pavement. Based on a youtube channel I follow there are a lot of tourists in that part of the world that get their RVs stuck.

Sunscreen, hats and water. You have one mile less atmosphere and the sun is intense even if the air temperature is not hot.

Double the amount of time and stop at sites along the way. Take your time. Depending on the RV use lower gears for hill decent save your brakes. When dumping waste dump black tank first and use grey to flush out the hose afterwards.

On our first RV experience, Bryce was our second stop, at a campground not far from the park. It was my first time ever to dump the black tank. So my advice to you is, be sure that the dumping hose is *firmly attached* to the connector used to attach it to the black tank dumping port. Otherwise, the hose could come off the connector (loose hose clamp) and the contents of the tank could end up on the ground at your feet rather than in the dumping station. Not that that's ever happened to me, though. Wink

Oh, and that corned beef that the wife is brining in a pot on the counter -- make sure that's in a sink or somewhere it won't slide off and fall onto the floor, dumping a half-gallon of salty, peppery water everywhere.

But Bryce is very cool and we wish we'd budgeted more time there to get to the slot canyons.
