I'm back! I don't know if there is any hope for that country short of a revolution. It's a shame, they have ruined a perfectly good portion of a tropical island. The corruption must be the foundation of society there. The thieves will even steel the power lines for the copper. I was told that Haiti produces no copper yet they are the biggest exporter of copper in the world. I don't know if that is true, but I believe it. The few buildings that I saw that had A/C had steel cages welded over the outside units! They even steel the electricity meters off of buildings. I'm sure a lot of stolen copper from the US ends up there and resold off the island. The aid money from the US and France is not used as intended. I saw one working traffic light and that was close to the airport. There are no traffic lines on the streets and it's every driver for himself there. Piles of garbage everywhere made it seem as though we were traveling through a landfill. From what I understand, the Dominican Republic is the opposite. When I was dropped off at the airport, the Doctor I was with handed my luggage to some uniformed employees. They walked my luggage in probably 100 feet. I had to pay a ransom for that. I have no idea how to fix that place short of revolution and I don't think anyone there has the ambition to do anything. The klintons saw Haiti as a perfect opportunity to rob Americans and Haitians at the same time! I already knew the answer, but I asked where that money went and the answer was, if knew, ler them know. My next door neighbors are hard working legal immigrants to the USA, I've heard stories but never understood.

Dominican is far nicer than Haiti, but still a third world country which is a step below Puerto Rico and others. It is civilized though.

I think the lithotripters are all extinct.

I agree. It's all relative, but Haiti is the Dominican Republic's "Mexico". The DR has to work to minimize the number of Haitians sneaking over the border for a better life.

Haiti was founded in a literal deal with the devil. I am not sure it will ever be able to get out of its own way.
