400mIllinois REC-90 gas locations
I’ve tried calling every gas station that pure-gas.org said was close to my work and I can’t find any. Does anyone know where I can find REC-90 gas near Kane or DuPage counties? I’m pretty sure 100 octane av-gas is ethanol free but I don’t know if that’s okay for small engines.

V-TailYes, AVgas is ethanol free. If your small engine is good with low lead gas, then the 100LL AVgas is fine.
Looks like it's currently going for $6.30 / gallon at the self-serve pump at DuPage Flight Center near you.
Be advised that this is not legal for use in road vehicles (road tax has not been applied) but is perfectly legal for any other application such as boats, off-road vehicles, etc.

Black92LXDid you specifically ask for REC-90???
I am going to guess a lot of the folks answering the phone at the gas station actually have no clue what REC 90 is and just said no.
When they actually have it but only refer to it as Ethanol Free 90 and have no clue.
Also a lot of places only have Ethanol 87 anymore.
It’s usually cheaper than REC 90 and I have switched to Ethanol Free 87 from Buccees as my local place closed and my only other option is a 40 minute drive to the boat marina and it is crazy expensive.
Been running Ethanol Free 87 in all my small engines for the last 2 years with no noticeable difference.
I also add Startron to all fuel that I purchase that does not go directly into a vehicle fuel tank.
http://www.starbrite.com/item/...on-gasoline-additiveWikipedia says there is only a single REC 90 station in Illinois and the is in Poplar Grove.

PASigI like how Wawa does ethanol-free gas which is all I will use in my Honda mower and snowblower:
IIRC on the sign:
Diesel: in green letters and numbers
Regular gasoline: in red letters and numbers
Ethanol-free gasoline: in blue letters and numbers
Makes it easy to tell if they have it as you drive past, only one in my whole area has it though.

Well, I can only speak for Honda GX series engines, Stihl chainsaws, and Husqvarna chainsaws, but all the ones I’ve seen seem to love 100LL. In the short term, it is more expensive than the swill you can get at the gas station, but once you figure in dealing with clogged up carburetors, it is a bargain.

GustoferOur ethanol-free is only premium around here. Unfortunately it usually runs about $1.50 more per gallon. Less additives but higher price. Yeah, that makes sense.
