KDRNew Pup
Our first and oldest dog, Sadie, passed away three weeks ago. She was with us for 16 1/2 years and I couldn't have asked for a better companion. Her passing left a big hole in our hearts and in our remaining border collie dog, Darcy, as well.
We didn't think we'd end up with another pup so quickly, but Darcy was just so meloncollie (pun intended) we started looking and found this little guy pretty quickly and we instantly fell for him. We haven't yet named him, but that will come soon enough. Right now, hes headed back the house with the wife to get his first bath and then off to the vet for his first checkup.

It's been 8 years since we've had one in the house, so it will be a wild ride. Luckily, my wife works from home and sets her own schedule, so she's able to spend tons of time on training and bonding.
The biggest concerns are how will our other dog take to her and that I know that nothing will be getting done at the house for a few weeks. Who's gonna do chores when there is a puppy in the house.

Rey HRHLook at those puppy dog eyes.
"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." kimberkidA fine looking future companion you have there and for now, enjoy him for all the trials and fun you can stand!
I was thinking that after Bailey (Black Lab) passes that I wouldn't get any more ... over the last year between my back, and most recently my hips and knees it wouldn't be fair to take on another ... my wife on the other hand says: Oh no, after your gone who will I have to scare off the magazine sales people!? I'll need a big dog with a big bark!
If you really want something you'll find a way ...
... if you don't you'll find an excuse.
I'm really not a "kid" anymore ... but I haven't grown up yet either

KDRThe first night went pretty well considering he'd never spent the night without a litter mate and in a crate. He woke us up several times, but we held strong and never responded so he'll learn that barking and yelping in the night are not rewarded. The wife was a saint and took him out about every 2-3 hours to do his business.
The Family:
Showing him the lake. Can't wait to teach him to swim. He should be a fish with his genetics.
