Air is air. Bikes have relatively higher pressure at low volume (45-120+), and car tires have a huge volume at low pressure (28-40).

Bike pumps are like anything else in this world, not all are the same. Frame pumps are rarely worth your time unless it is a good one made for bike tire pressures. Floor pumps are faster because they can pump more volume. Only better ones can pump bicycle road bike pressures over 120psi. Large volume floor pumps have large barrels and high pressure pumps have thin barrels and ideally a long stroke.

I can add about a pound of pressure for 10 pumps with my pump and my tires (245/40 x 19). Do it all the time.
