I was just going through some of my fathers WW II stuff. I usually do that sort of thing on his birthday but it seemed like I should tonight. It brings a tear to my eye. We have a great country here with brave men and women doing a very dangerous job to make our lives comfortable. It makes me proud of this country. Very proud. God Bless Our Military. Happy (pre) 4th Sigforum.

That is all.

Here, here! Thank You all for recognizing the enemy and facing him down. Your service is very much appreciated.

I am in Cols OH for this 4th of July helping my parents shut down the house and relocate to Florida full time.

As we are packing/donating and liquidating items I have found pictures of me, my father and grandfathers through the years both in civilian life and their time in the military both CONUS and OCONUS.

Seeing those pictures of my father and grandfathers with their colleagues in those various pictures always makes me proud and grateful that there were/are brave men who stepped up when they were called and/or volunteered to give me and others the precious gift of freedom that I/we enjoy everyday.

Somedays I worry about the future of this country and how the next generation will steer it. Will they uphold the principals I grew up with? Will they love freedom? I worry. Then somedays I look at a few of the pics from my last deployment overseas. And I am reminded. It will be ok.

Not a single one of these boys was over 22 when this pic was taken (2012). Helmand Province AFG, about 100 klicks north of Leatherneck at a remote combat outpost. It was not a nice place. All of them got out. They went to college, they went back to run dad's farm (yes that still happens). They have kids. I still keep up with some. I see what is happening in this country and I get mad...until I remember these boys.

WE are out there. And WE love this nation. WE do our job, as Americans have done since the dawn of this nation. We are old and we are young. And we are starting a new generation that feels the same way.

Happy Fourth to everyone.

I give you American Exceptionalism.
