We lived in the Berea for 12 years before moving back to Colorado. Moved there for a job that was headquartered there.

Yes, Cleveland is a shithole, but not as bad as it was a generation ago. I would move back.

Note. The cost of living is less, but the taxes are high. I was not prepared for the property taxes which were much more than CO

I grew up in the Cleveland area so yes I would move back.

1. Roads in the area actually have curves. Makes for fun motorcycle riding or performance car Driving. There are also very scenic areas in the State of Ohio, so it's basically a match for the State of Michigan. Thing is in Cleveland they are a 30-90 minute drive, in the Detroit area they are hours away. As for why, there are Hills in Cleveland, in Detroit a "hill" is a 40 foot rise.

2. Ohio voters never got suckered into "no fault" insurance, as a result car insurance rates are 1/2 those of Michigan.

3. Lake Erie is fantastic for Boating. Lake St. Clair is horrible due to it's small size and way to many boaters who don't even know the Rules of the Road.

4. Drivers are a LOT more courteous than those in the Detroit area.

5. MDOT is completely, 100%, Corrupt. I see truly unbelievable Bull Shit executed by MDOT. Including claiming that 166,000 lbs. semi rigs aren't damaging to a highway roadbed designed during the Eisenhower administration for 57,000 lbs maximum loads. ODOT enforces the Federal 80,000 max weight and because of this roadbeds in Ohio last for 20 years or more and in Michigan they only last for 5 years.

6. Property taxes in Ohio are far less than those in Michigan.

7. Cleveland has a snow belt. Combine that with Hills and you have drivers who actually know how to drive on snow covered roads.

I've stopped counting.

Scooter, I have driven around dead-mans-curve on 90 numerous times enroute to Sandusky-Cedar Point. Always amazes me that this was never modified or changed.

I also live in the Great Basin. I also have lived in a very similar area to Cleveland (NW IN on the lake)
I voted no because because I came to loathe the weather in that part of the country. It is the polar opposite of what you live today.
Once you have become accustomed to the sunny, low humidity of the West it is REALLY difficult to deal with the constant cloudiness, humidity and lake effect garbage of that region.

I moved to Medina 25 years ago from va.
I worked down town for 20 of those years and really liked it.
Sports teams, world class cultural museums.
Great restaurants. It has a bad rep that was accurate 30 or 40 years ago, but not now. The winter is kind of rough for two months, but the rest of the year is great. Fall is the best, spring is good. The summer is pleasant, couldn’t really good out in Va in the summer, but the Cleveland area is great in summer. If your are into winter sports it is a great area. If you fish the Great Lakes and all of the other lakes have great fishing. Hunting is popular too.
The only down side is property taxes are high.

I also find that amazing. However I do drive a Ford Fiesta ST and in that car in light traffic it's rather fun.

I suspect that curve originated as a cost cutting exercise by following a well established Truck route and avoiding as many neighborhoods as possible. ODOT has probably been looking at how to acquire all the property needed to remove that curve and it boils down to it being just too expensive to do because it would displace so many people from their homes. IIRC there is also the matter of the Lakefront Airport which borders that area. BTW, Lake Front Airport is another affront to common sense, that should have been closed down and removed 40 years ago. By doing that I 90 could be uses to re-shape that transition into a much larger curve. Thing is that Lake Front has always been a convenience airport for the movers and shakers in Cleveland and every time there is talk of removing it there is a real uproar.

I've stopped counting.

I would relocate to Cleveland only to listen to an esteemed minister every Sunday, but he recently retired. No other reason for me...

I lived in OH for a short while, and it was not fun. Great job, lovely small town, but the climate and lack of sun affected my new bride. We transferred to NC as quickly as we could.

Wife's from Cleveland so lots of visits. Best part is Lake Erie fishing or boating.

One could do a lot worse than Cleveland like, Portland, Seattle or any California city.

84 to 16 is pretty damning. having been to Cleveland for a weekend work trip, I'm sticking with my assessment at the time "Drew Carey is a liar."
