Exploring options for my 2018 Armada. Leading contenders are Big O store brand or Michelin via Costco. Costco option would be about $100 more and I have to get the alignment done elsewhere for another $80. Plus that inconvenience. Anyone have any practical experience with the Big O branded tires?

Why not the Michelin at big o?

I'd go with the Michelins. We used them for years, with never an issue. Manager of a local high volume tire shop, that handled several brands including Michelin, told me he couldn't remember a Michelin ever coming back with a factory defect...
ETA: Only Big-O experience I can report was a bait and switch type deal. Didn't try to deal with Big-O after that.

Bought my Michelins at costco.
After pricing the tire at a store plus mount and balance, road hazard, free nitrogen, etc came out ahead at Costco.

Michelins are overpriced for what you get in my opinion. Not sure about Big O. A guy I know who knows more about cars and equip. than anyone else I know buys from them. I personally like Cooper, BFG, Falken, Nokian, Geolander, Hankook all better than Michelin.
My new to me Ridgeline had a newish set of Michelins on it. They are wearing just like every other Michelin I have had. No worth a crap. Fwiw. This message has been edited. Last edited by: old rugged cross,

I've only bought Big-O tires one time. I got lousy life out of them (~35K miles). Michelin LTX M/S were the best, smoothest riding, quietest tires I ever ran on my F-250. I got 60K from them, average. Liked them enough that I bought three sets of them over the life of the truck.

Here, Big O will price match. Net between tire rack, big o, Costco for me is usually less than $100 for 4. So I usually go to big o. Costco sale may make a difference.

I have a 2018 Armada also with the original tires still on it. 42,000 miles. Looking at new tires too and have seen a pretty good deal on Goodyear Wranglers about $176 less than the Michelin LTX.

Drift. Costco seems out on tires size I’ll need this winter. Not that I buy from them but general supply sign. Dumb question : tires are in short supply now? Should I replace tires ahead of time when possible? I’m due for the rainy season but if it’s another dry year with still limited travel, I may be able to get through with the truck on rainy days for another year.

Michelin tires will be on sale in Sept at Costco. Michelin Defender vs X Tour debate for my car. From what I’ve read X Tour is the Costco chain tire. Only $3 price difference.

Where you seeing that they will be on sale in September? I can easily wait until then if worth it. Any indication how much off?

Costco deal is usually $150 off for 4. But check stock - my local store is showing out of stock for my sizes (car and truck).

I usually wait for the 4 for 3 sale...buy 3 tires, get the 4th one for free. I've also had them have tires shipped from other stores for me. Takes a couple of days
I don't mind taking my cars to a separate shop to have the tires aligned. I go to a place that specializes in German cars...$60
