Roku question
I have a new Roku/Smart TV and I'm considering cutting the (satellite) cable and going streaming only.

Question: I have a couple of 'dumb' TVs that have HDMI and USB inputs. Do I just buy a Roku box for each of them or just a single box and a very long cord or what?

Thanks

I just add each box to my wifi and use the same log in, correct?

Have a roku TV in one of the spare bedrooms and two with a box.

Personally, though it requires two remotes, I prefer the box version. YMMV

And you can connect head phones to them and the tv has no volume and not wake anyone up, if you can't sleep.

In a prior ROKU thread the consensus choice was the ROKU ultra and being in the process of cord cutting I snagged 2 Black Friday $49 Meijer deals.

They sure work well with Youtube tv, controls are intuitive, headphone jack, it's a nice format and I'd recommend the Ultra.

The Ultras are the only way to go. Much better than the sticks.

Instead of a roku for each TV, you might consider a Chromecast dongle. I have Roku in my living room but in my b/r, Chromecast Gen 3 dongle. The primary APPS I watch are Youtube TV, NHL, Amazon Prime, and Netflix; Hulu will work too. Each of those APPS can stream to Chromecast. There are fewer wires with a Chromecast, as the new one can get its power from a USB port on the TV in lieu of plugging into a wall socket. The Gen 1 Chromecast might have used USB for power as well, but I remember it not working that great for some reason.

I personally prefer the Streaming Stick+ over the Ultra. It does 4K, it also has the upgraded antenna as well, and you aren't spending money on the ear buds that you get with the ultra. I used to be in the box camp (have had Roku since the first one), but since they now basically only connect with hdmi I prefer the smaller stick. No issues at all.

Just a hint. When setting them each up, give each device a unique name (i.e. "Living Room Roku", "Master Bedroom Roku"). Makes them easier to identify when you opt to stream something to them.

The other thing is, get the free Roku apps for your phone/tablet. With the Roku and phone/tablet on the same WiFi, you can then use those instead of the little Roku controller. Beats the living heck out of hunt and peck when you are trying to navigate and search. Smile
