I'm changing work roles and going from wearing a uniform everyday to wearing business casual.

I'm 6'3" and 240 lbs and looking for chino-style pants to wear everyday that will hold up and look decent.

Just looking for recommendations.

I’ve tried many…

If you have any kind of a butt, you need a slightly higher rise.

These are my latest…

Jos A Bank has some pretty good ones for decent price and they run sales pretty often.

It was trial and error for me until I found a Mfg with the proper rise…Haggar worked.

When you put on the pants and then sit down if they pull the belt in the back drastically down, your rise is too low and does not come up over your butt adequately enough.

Duluth Trading, either their Ballroom Khakis or their Firehose Foreman pants. (I slightly prefer the latter, which are a bit thicker and heavier than traditional chinos/khakis, similar to Carharts.) Either are available in slim/standard/relaxed fit, depending on your preference and body type.

Those two styles of pants are what I usually wore in my LE admin role, paired with either a department polo or a button-up shirt. They hold up really well to use and wear, and have enough flex to be very comfortable.

Pricey at full retail, but they go on sale for 30-50% off frequently. In fact, Duluth is currently running a 50% off sale on a lot of their stuff.

I also like Haggar's Cool 18 Pro golf slacks, which you can get on Amazon. Not nearly as sturdy and hard-wearing as the Duluth stuff, but a lighter and thinner moisture-wicking material that's perfect for hot summer days.

Another vote for Haggar.

I prefer their Cool 18 Pro line. A little stretch in the waistband and grippy stuff around the inside to hold your shirt in place.

They look sharp and wear really well.

Several recommendations, above, for Haggar. I looked at Amazon. They look decent, the price is right, and the website claims to have tall sizes.

The longest inseam listed is 34". WTF? Where are the tall sizes? Mad Mad Mad

I’m 6’4” and wear 36” inseam in jeans. I find the dress slacks in 34” inseam fit me perfectly.

I get them directly from Haggar. Inventory can sometimes be a bit spotty, but you can at least see what they have - all colors and sizes.

They also go on sale regularly. Wait for the sales and you can usually get them under $30/pair.

I've worn Haggar every day for well over a decade but a different model. I wear their cool 18 which is microfiber so it's comfortable in the summer and it has the hidden expandable waist so it's more comfortable seated and standing.

I picked up more pairs over Black Friday when they were on sale for $29.99

Thanks for the posts. I just ordered 6 pairs from Duluth. LA Police Gear also has semi-dress pants.

No pleats. This isn't the 1980s/90s.

Pleated pants existed for two purposes:

A) Attempt to disguise your gut, if you have one. Which they actually don't. Everyone still knows you have a gut. So that one's moot.

B) Make it more comfortable to sit/crouch. You can achieve the same effect with the hidden expandable waist that almost all pants have these days and/or the new generation of slightly stretchy 2-3% spandex fabrics that many pants are made out of these days. (Diamond crotch gussets, like found on Duluth's pants, can also help with crouching.)

Therefore, beyond merely being out of fashion for the past couple decades, pleats are also pointless nowadays from a functional standpoint. Wink

Stick to flat front pants with a bit of stretch/give. If you still want additional room in the hips and thighs, get relaxed fit flat front pants with a bit of stretch/give.
