Do---or do not.
There is no try.

Williams and people like him remind me of when I got my broadcast journalism degree, then decided that I didn't want to get into the profession after all because I found out I'd have to sell my soul to do it.

Brian Williams is a first rate asshole, but I think some of the things he said are telling. You think they're bad now, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Says he’s not Liberal and then spouts and defends liberalism everyday. That makes him a hypocrite in my book.

I'm shocked at the comments I am seeing about his speech online. I am seeing conservatives saying things like "I can't believe he has seen the light", "He's being honest now that he's leaving", "Sounds like he has been red pilled", etc., etc.

I look at comments like that and wonder if any of these people know who Brian Williams is or what his background is?

When he says this:
quote:
"The truth is I’m not a liberal or a conservative. I’m an institutionalist,” he said. “I believe in this place and my love of country I yield to no one. But the darkness on the edge of town has spread to the main roads and highways and neighborhoods. It’s now at the local bar, and the bowling alley at the school board in the grocery store.”

He also lambasted elected officials he thinks have “joined the mob” and who have “decided to burn it all down with us inside.”

You have to understand, he is a committed hard core leftist propagandist. When he says the darkness on the edge of town spreading to grocery stores and the local school boards, he is talking about people resisting mask mandates and parents objecting to CRT being shoved down their children's throats. He is specifically talking about people resisting the government.

When he says elected officials 'Have joined the mob' and 'decided to burn it down with us inside' he is referring to Donald Trump, republicans and January 6, not ANTIFA, BLM and the riots burning down American cities.

I'm shocked at how many are misinterpreting his sign off speech.

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”
- John Adams

I don't watch or listen to NBC or Brian Williams. I thought he was gone after the news several years ago that he had embellished his record somewhat.

Just like an ex-girlfriend.

I've recounted this, here on SF, before. She had her degree. Graduated summa cum laude, IIRC. Had worked as a journalist for a while. Eventually decided "I can't do this anymore," and moved on to something else.

By the time we met she had become so disgusted with what had become of what had been her love, she once told me she was embarrassed to tell people her degree was in Journalism and she had once worked as a journalist.

One time, after we were no longer dating but were still friends, she told me, excitedly, of a lunch meeting she would be having with ex-colleagues that were in town for one-or-another journalism thing of some type.

When I subsequently asked her how the lunch thing had gone her response was "I'll never do that again. Those people are completely out of touch with reality."

She was a moderate liberal, too. I mean "liberal" in the true sense of liberalism, not the leftofascism that passes itself off as "liberalism" these days.

Come on man! All he did was lie about being a passenger in a Chinook that got shot down.

Note that NBC took him back...

At first I was thinking he was trash talking the commie left. Then when he mentioned that he was a "institutionalist" I knew he was a big government POS.
