That is funny right there.
In the old days, people hunted and trapped raccoons. Not so today and they do a lot of damage and are everywhere.
A couple of raccoons can wipe out a garden in one night. They will eat green bean plants to the ground.
There were two construction workers living in the apartments when I lived in Reston. They trapped raccoons on the job site. On the back way to work in the morning, I would stop and pick up road kill for them if was safe to stop. Their apartment had a distinct smell due to the stretched hides hinging on a clothes line drying.

Do people still buy/sell them I wonder? IIRC, when I was a kid they were only worth about $12-15 a piece. Red Fox would bring a pretty penny. I sold several hides around $75. Back then it was good money for a teenager.

I grew up on the river where we fished, skied, and trapped in the winter time before the river froze over. I trapped mainly muskrat. One time I did catch two beaver when they moved into the area and started damaging the trees. We got $2.50 to $3.00 for muskrats back in the 50's.
We also mowed grass and had a paper route. We used the money for gas and 22 ammo. My best friend had lots of guns and he gave me a 22 Colt Officers Model Match to use. We were only about 12 or 13 at the time. Can you imagine kids doing that today?
Foxes are protected in some counties in VA for Fox hunting with dogs. The Institute Farm has Beagle trials chasing foxes. A friend from PA use to come down for the past events. The Club has been inactive the last three years.
