I run trains! |
Trying to get away from my homemade spreadsheet to something more mobile friendly, with the hope that I can enter details quickly as I do them. Also some place to have a quick reference for oil/air filter part numbers and such. Anyone have a good experience with a particular app? Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view. Complacency sucks…

It may not be high-tech, but I just have a small lined notebook in each glove compartment. I put the date, mileage & what I did. A few minutes in the manual or on the net brings up part numbers. With some I may write the part number somewhere handy. With a newer vehicle one normally starts with oil changes. Once longer on, tranny, spark plugs & so forth. With tire rotations I do them kinda by memory, like last week, a few Winter tires off, rotating in the all-seasons. Anyway, my system works for me.

Told cops where to go for over 29 years… |
Another Fully user here - the free version lets you record fuel ups, paint, etc on multiple vehicles. What part of "...Shall not be infringed" don't you understand???

A year or so ago I went looking for an app to document regular vehicle maintenance that would include the ability to set notifications to remind when maintenance was due based upon a future date as well as an elapsed time based schedule. Couldn’t find one. Wished I knew how to write apps. Then I moved on with life and ended up getting cars with the built in oil reminders.

I really like my Road-trip app. You can set maintenance reminders, generate excel spreadsheets, etc. what I like about the maintenance reminders is it can notify based upon the earliest of a particular date, or, reaching a certain mileage. For example I run pure synthetic oil. My oil change notifications are set for the earliest of: 1) 12 months, or 2) 10,000 miles.

Drill Here, Drill Now |
I got burned using a GM provided website for a truck I ultimately kept 13.5 years. GM suddenly dumped it resulting in loss of everything. This has made me reluctant to get an app. Instead, I just use the iPhone's built in reminder app. I don't put enough miles on annually to generate an oil change so it's set based on calendar. Thank you Very little |
https://www.familyhandyman.com...e-apps-for-your-car/ write up on some apps, only thing about Car Fax is when you enter in your vin, name, car, mileage they are now your tracking app for all dealers nationwide on how the car was serviced, so if you keep it up to date, great, but if you didn't update it every time when you go to sell anyone pulling a CF can see the gaps which could devalue your car. Carfax isn't doing it for fun...

Maybe it's because I work in IT, but all our auto maintenance receipts and notes go in a 3-ring binder. Each vehicle has a section and the top sheet has a summary with upcoming maintenance based on date or mileage. Every receipt or note for things I did myself go after the summary sheet. I'd keep it in the glovebox but there tend to be too small.

Seems like many of the folks I know that work in IT typically avoid using apps or IT in general for very many things, don't have Facebook accounts, etc. I think it might be because they are well aware of the tracking, lack of privacy, and possible hacking.
