Costco has several levels of the 65" Samsung in the link I posted at different price points.

We have been happy with our Toshiba Fire TV. Available at either Best Buy or Amazon. Amazon should be free delivery. I think the 65 inch is $480 right now.

I’ve had very good luck with Samsung until I had a problem. Brand new TV, eight months old. Turned it on one morning and it had a 1/2” black stripe down the center. Samsung was very nice. Asked me to send a photo. The “engineers” said it was user impact damage and not covered. After about six back-and-forths with escalation, still no joy. I finally wrote a complaint letter to BBB before Samsung gave in and installed a new display. I suggest anyone considering one do a search on Samsung support issues before making a decision.

Maybe the place we all should have started with you at is, what 'do' you have access to in terms of retail stores? ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Did this in sept when amazon said they where dumping support of our devices. We went Sony bravia. Android tv is native to this. Plenty apps. Meshes with our other Sony stuff. Was 1299 otd At Best buy, is prolly lower now. No membership needed. No issues. Good stuff.

Once again: Don't have BestBuy. Not paying $200 delivery. Don't use Sony or Android. Don't have $1200 to spend. Thanks though.

Yeah, Samsung has a pretty poor CS reputation. I found that out when my wife and I had Samsung tablets, found Samsung had broken Android by attempting to "improve" it, tried to work with their CS, then researched their CS. I don't know if they ever did address the problem, as I replaced Samsung's broken Android implementation with an open source version of Android, then eventually replaced the Android stuff with Apple mobile devices. That being said: Every time I go looking at a new TV, Samsung wins. I would never in a million years use their smart features, because I trust Samsung no further than I can spit (they have a execrable record vis-a-vis customer privacy and security, too), but I do like their TVs. They do make generally good hardware. Well, except for their appliances. Steer clear of those. Way, way clear. We may actually buy a new TV w/in the next few days. There's nothing wrong with ours, but we were over at a friend's house, last night, and his 55" TV was running in the room. Remarked to my wife "We really need a bigger TV in the family room." (Currently have a 46".) Surprisingly, she agreed! "America is at that awkward stage. You didn't make the fact that there was no Best Buy local to you very clear in your earlier posts. I did wonder what the $200 was all about that you cited for delivery. I can't tell if I'm tired, or just lazy |
If, by chance, you find the best deal at Best Buy, they do offer in store pickup and there is a Best Buy in Sx. Sony X900F. It’s worth the extra money. What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone

Do the next right thing |
I would never buy a Samsung TV. So many develop issues with the backlight before too long. I'd go with LG or TCL for a good-quality-on-a-budget choice, or Sony for the best if you're willing to pay.

I ordered the 65" Sanyo. I received it and set it up yesterday. Easy to set up, great picture quality. I would recommend it.

Fighting the good fight |
The TCL 5 series and 6 series TVs are very tough to beat from a cost vs. features/quality standpoint, with their pictures being the equal of many fancier TVs, and significantly better than other TVs in their price range. They're widely regarded as the best "budget" TVs. That previously mentioned Best Buy deal on the 6 series 65R615 is a pretty good price at $630 (if you have a Best Buy handy). But keep in mind that's the older 2018 model. For $70 more, Walmart has the newer 2019 model 6 series 65R625 on sale for $700: https://www.walmart.com/ip/TCL...-TV-65R625/238992111 The picture quality will be little better than the older model at Best Buy. Probably worth the extra $70. Plus, you don't need to go through Best Buy. Or, if you want something even a little bit cheaper, with only a slight compromise in picture quality compared to the 6 series, the 65" version of the 5 series 65R525 is currently on sale at Amazon for $550: https://www.amazon.com/TCL-Cla...ATVPDKIKX0DER&sr=8-6 Might be worth saving the $150 if you're not a complete picture quality nut (and even the 5 series will still most likely blow you away if you don't already have a high-end newish TV in the house). And you could then put that money towards fleshing out the rest of your home entertainment setup. So my suggestion would be to either send your whole TV budget on the $700 65R625 from Walmart, or else get the $550 65R525 at Amazon and spend the extra $150ish in your TV budget on a decent soundbar or 5.1 setup and/or a wall mount or TV stand. (Or, y'know... Get the wife something pretty.) (Another added benefit is these TCL TVs have Rokus built in, so you effectively save another few bucks by not having to buy an additional Chromecast/Firestick/Roku/etc. in order to stream/cast to that TV.)This message has been edited. I guess maybe the newer models have issues. We have two. The oldest is I'm guessing 12+ years old and has a beautiful picture and operates flawlessly. It's a 46 incher and is relegated to our bedroom. The other is a 55 inch that's about 5 years old. Again, great picture and no operational issues. I will say though, they both have pretty meager sound systems which require a sound bar of some sort. That's probably the case with most built in sound these days.
