This is after I towed it home in '86. Pictures do not do it justice. Ten years of blown in New Mexico dust, a bunch of dead Yellow Jackets and mice. Only rust hole was in the right rear quarter where sand and adobe mud trapped moisture. It had lived a hard life. Some point it had the left rear quarter and tail panel replaced, floor straightened (still wrinkled) so I assume it got hit in the corner. The guy I got it from said that while he did hit the quarter behind the driver's door he "bumped" it out himself so a previous owner had the side fixed. His contribution to the mess was that he destroyed the right fender and door, took out a guard rail, a row of mailboxes and a speed limit sign shortly before he blew the original engine up. In the early summer of '76 I was traveling down I-25 north of Socorro when that afternoon I was passed by a red '67 2+2, this was about three and a half years before I moved there. I looked over and saw the fender louvers and thought to myself "that's a rare one" as I knew about that Pontiac model as earlier in that year I sold my '66 2+2 that I had owned since 1970. I'm sure it is the same car, ten years later I owned it.This message has been edited. [QUOTE]Originally posted by John Steed: 1967Goat: What's that on the hood, a tachometer? Fantastic car./QUOTE] Thanks! Yes, it's a "Hood Tach". Pontiac offered them in 1967 for a few years, until the .gov said they were a visual obstruction and made them get rid of them. I added one when I finished the resto in 1997. It's not lost on me how much time and money it's going to cost to get this thing road worthy. I also understand that I'll have far more than it's worth in it when its said and done. A four post lift sounds like a great idea, but I dont think my ceilings are tall enough. The interior is a work in process. I have new seat buns purchased, it just needs reupholstered and installed. The floor pans are brand new. The dash and gauges are all in pretty good shape. The dash pad does have a small crack in it. The Chevy engine and tranny is in the car already. The engine was built by a GM Certified Tech that has drag cars. This engine was in a tubbed Ford Pinto ironically. But it's done right, as this guy is well known for his work. To make it driveable, for sure it needs: carb, headers, exhaust, breaks, drive shaft, rear shocks, and tires. I've been all up under the car, and the frame looks solid, it's just grimy. My view FWIW. You might be able to find another Buick identical but it will not be "your" car. To a comment that I made in one of the FB Pontiac groups the only way that I would get rid of my '67 was for a specific '64 Mercury convertible I had in my high school days. One of the other members offered to find one to trade me for mine. I thought about it but you know, unless it was my exact car (I still have the VIN number!) it would just be another car to me. So I had to decline the offer. Later that year on Ebay I saw one that made me pause, the VIN was different though. It was almost a exact copy of mine except for the tinted windshield. My '67 was first purchased in '86, in '88 we moved back to Michigan so I left it at a friend's shop in the southwest until '91. It was not on the road until '92 under it's own power, painted in '97, interior in '98. They are never truly finished, I replaced the aftermarket AM FM antenna last year with a mixture of NOS and reproduction parts last summer. You are not on a timetable, build it when you can, if you can make it driveable while you are building it, all the better. You can enjoy it also while working on it. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A.
