this happened in Springfield, Virginia. One of the wealthiest counties in the country saw a chaotic “street takeover” by hooligans who tried to rip a police officer from her vehicle. The site of the mayhem was on Electronic Drive, where an army of miscreants were recklessly driving, doing doughnuts around 3 AM on Sunday.

The dashcam shows how these thugs surrounded the officer’s car, with attempts made to open the doors of the cruiser. Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis believes his department “narrowly escaped a line-of-duty death scenario”

According to Davis, a large group of people gathered for a party in a parking lot and were driving recklessly, speeding and doing doughnuts — and things turned ugly when an officer showed up.

“One of our own officers was surrounded by a bunch of masked tough guy wannabe thugs who surrounded her car and acted in a criminal manner.”

Video showed people surrounding the squad car as the officer called for backup, saying “I’ve got a huge crowd. They’re hitting my car.”

Dozens of officers responded from across the county to break up the crowd.

Fox 5 DC reported that four people had been charged. What a mess. These incidents happen when you don’t jail people and crack down on criminality.

Her voice is amazingly calm considering

We need to start treating criminals like mountain lions or bears.

If they run away when challenged by LEO or a citizen, fine. They should still be pursued for whatever crimes they committed though.

If they approach w/ the intent to inflict bodily or death, they need to be put down.

Yes AR15's are available if they are qualified with them.

did you notice late in the second video there was a patrol car coming to help.

thugs tried to block the patrol car.

Yes AR15's are available if they are qualified with them.

However many departments are not allowed to have them in the cab of the cruiser so may not have mattered much.

Those are the assoles who have destroyed the car scene completely. Words fail to express how much I hate people like that.

Agreed, these hooligans only do this as a way to show off and get social media attention. Their cars are mostly daily drivers with ridiculous modifications.

I hope the officers responding stormed in there like a hoard.

I notice these people are all tough attacking the police until they are taken down, then they are the victims as "thay ain't doin' nuffin' man... "

It is interesting how little respect many folks have for authority. Certainly with dogs or children failure to be consistent and clear in your expectations can lead to problems.

I wonder if the old saw, “Spare the Rod and spoil the child” will ever come back into fashion in policing.

Wouldn’t an AR be unwieldy and really loud inside a patrol vehicle? Is this something officers train for?
