GrumpyBikerGrumpyBikers Annual Christmas Seafood Dinner - No longer an Extravaganza
I hope everyone had a nice time with family & loved ones around the table this year.
I all but forgot ....
Every year we make less & less yet still fail to finish all the food.
However that's probably a very good thing .
But it's certainly no longer the "Extravaganza" it once was.
What did everyone else serve up this year????
On the menu this year,
*Crab Legs
*Butterflied Shrimp
*Clam Strips
*Mini Lobster Cakes
*Hush Puppies
*Baked Potatoes
*2012 Firelands Gewürztraminer

marksman41Dude, you need to get checked out. I could have finished every delicious thing on every plate by myself!

StorminNorminMan, that looks great! I wanted to do a ham, but the wife wanted a turkey again. I smoked a turkey in the Big Green Egg at 220-250 degrees and it came out amazingly juicy. Then we had all the typical sides.

NavyGuyLooks good Grumpy.
We used to do traditional Catholic/Italian fish for Christmas eve dinner, but switched to standard pasta based dishes the last 5 or 6 years. Lasagna, stuffed shells, spaghetti with fish sauce, sausage etc. Frying fish for the 12-15 people that invade our house Christmas eve got out of hand, where as the lasagnas etc can all be made ahead of time making it more manageable with less clean up. Was all good.

JALLENWe enjoyed sole, with a light coating of incomparable breading from Point Loma Sea Food, sautéed in olive oil, baked potatoes (mine dressed in butter and chives), fresh green beans and accompanied with a delightful old champagne. Luckily, we forgot the crab cake appetizer, or we would have been too stuffed to enjoy the tarte aux pommes, prepared and baked by my wife, the daughter of a patisserie chef.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.
When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson
"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown December 26, 2017, 09:52 AM
c1steveI went ocean fishing on Friday, we caught 18 Dungeness crabs, some ling cod and other rock fish. However we ate it Christmas eve.

tatortoddLookin' good Grumpy. Your Christmas seafood dinner always looks delicious and the lighting in your photos is equally well done.
Prime grade NY strip at the TatorTodd compound. Reverse seared 'em on the BGE.

newtoSig765Looks to me like you had the proper balance of quality and quantity, but I think you would need better protection -- not enough magazine capacity when the neighbors see all this!

joatmonvPrime rib
Smoked ham from a local BBQ place
Potatoes
Mixed veggies
Rolls
The prime rib was almost gone but there was a ton of ham left. I stuffed a gallon zip lock bag with ham and took it home.
Had a nice time with my family and enjoyed myself. That's what counts.

GT-40DOCI did Alder smoked Cornish Game Hens, along with Brussels Sprouts with a blue cheese dressing, coarse ground pepper and sea salt. Also bread dressing with the required brown gravy and Pita bread. It was yummy.

slabsides45Good thing you did the Chrimma tree napkins, otherwise it'd have ruined the whole feng shui.
Great looking meal, just might need to up your protection game next year if I find an address and date beforehand!

My wife sprung those on me this year.
I'm sure she mentioned it to be beforehand but I know if I heard "Napkin" & "Folding" ... I'm sure I tuned out.
