When I was very young my parents took my brother and I to Mexico. Rented a house right on the beach for a week or two. It was amazing. Anyways, when we were there, there was a massive resort that had been shut down right when they finished it, it was being protected by some sort of Mexican cops or military. In typical Mexican fashion, my dad slipped then $20 and they let us wander around. It was INSANE, apparently it was built by Americans, then the Mexican government shut it down? The beds were still made in the bungalows, bars has glasses and plates, it was totally deserted and brand new like frozen in time.

The reason for the thread is, I can't find anything about it online and my parents don't remember what it's called. Is anyone familiar with what I'm talking about? I'd love to look it up online.

Sounds like the owners didn't pay enough in bribes, or paid the wrong official.

possibly, My dad seems to think it was called the Baja Resort. My mom did say we have pictures, so I'll resort back to them and post them here. It was really cool.

Was it on the Pacific, or Sea of Cortez side? There is ~900 miles of beaches in Baja.

When was this?

I recall a number of those situations from Tijuana down to Ensenada.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

I'm only familiar with the Cortez side.

Sounds cool, though.
